Advantages: No advantages

Disadvantages: Rubbish service - rude call centre - high debits - refuse to refund -

N Power have got to be the worst Energy supplier in the UK.

Their call centre in the North East is staffed my some of the rudest, stupidest people Ive ever EVER had to deal with. All they do is over charge, over charge, over charge. I was a customer of theirs after moving to Crawley West Sussex in 2002 for 4 years until I switched to EDF.

Npower seemed to shove the direct debit for both gas and electric up and up. I ended up paying £65 per month for both and the accounts were massively in credit. Credit which THEY refused to refund.

Well, they ended up having to refund it when I switched supplier but even then, they dragged their heels over it.

With EDF energy, almost 2 years later, I am paying just £37per month. I can give meter readings online, and IF I need to call them, it's a free phone number...UNLIKE rubbish NPOWER who keep you hanging on the phone for AGES...strongly advise all decent people...AVOID...!!!

Summary: TOTAL RUBBISH - AVOID

Well of course, here in the UK we are paying through the nose for everything. Banks are to blame. Easy credit is to blame for rising inflation in the UK. If credit were harder to come by, retailers would have to lower their prices because nobody would be able to afford their goods. The same goes for house prices. 20 years ago, as a single person I could only borrow 3 times my annual salary. Yet mortgage brokers are lending up to 5-6 times annual income today. A house is only worth what people will pay for it. Energy prices are a little different. Here in the UK, we have global guilt heaped on us for the green house effect. A good reason to shove energy prices up..??

Oddly enough I think that they've lost so many customers that they are offering dirt cheap 12 month contracts to attract new ones! Not crediting over-payments should be illegal - I agree that EDF's online reading facility is brilliant, although I think that we are probably paying through the nose for it! Richard.
