Advantages: none
Disadvantages: unjustifiable bills
I always try to look for the best options available to me, I have been with N Power, then to British Gas, back to N Power and finally back to British Gas again. I am sure there are a lot of better deals available for me however I am quite happy now with the service that is being provided to me.
N Power has got to be by far one of the worst utility companies that I have ever been with. I have no trust in there company at all and always bypass them in the supermarket when they are canvassing for new business. I havent got the time of day for them at all.
I live on my own and out most of the day, sometimes away from home during the week too, so I don't really use a great deal of electricity by any means. I had been set on a plan which cost £18 per month, which was reviewed after 12 months to see whether you were paying enough to cover your quarterly bills. My quarterly bills were coming in around the £45 mark for the quarter which is great as I was paying £54 a quarter, averaging around £10 a month more bringing my account into credit, which was get as I was expecting my monthly payments to go down.
At the end of the year, my account was in credit by £49, a quarters supply of electricity and when I received my review, I was horrified to see that they had increased my monthly payment to £34. I contacted them immediately to find out how they can justify an account being in credit and almost doubling the monthly payment and they advised that it was based on the usage that I had over the year and the predicted for the next 12 months.
My circumstances had not changed and I was rarely in the house. I was definitely not going to pay the £34 a month as it was ridiculous and decided to terminate my supply with them and went back to British Gas. I now pay my bill quarterly and it still remains with them i the region of £50.
The customer service at n power was terrible, I get the impression that they are reading from sheets and when you ask them a question that they don't know the answer is, always goes back to let me put you on hold whilst I ask my team leader. The staff at these type of call centres never seem to last long either, which I don't blame them.
