Update on my earlier posting of 24.4.08.
I have now left this diabolical incompetent company and changed to Southern who on first impressions seem efficient and friendly and there is always someone answering phones.
NPower sent me my final gas bill, which I paid on 16 June. This amount cleared my bank account on 19 June. On 29 July I received a letter threatening Court action for non payment. I rang NPower to be told "Oh yes, we received your payment on 30 June". I asked why when they confirmed that they had had my payment for a month was I getting a Court Action letter. The person said my cheque must have been held up in the post. He clearly hadn't listened to my question and just came out with one of the stock answers on a sheet of paper in front of him.
I asked why they sent a bill then automatically followed it up with Court Action\Bailiff letters and was told that was not how it worked. They sent the bill, and always sent a reminder, plus a further reminder then the legal notices. I told them this was not correct, as in all my dealings with NPower they only sent the bill then followed it up by the Court Action \Bailiff letter. He sarcastically said I must know more about the way NPower operate than he did and hung up on me.
To everyone looking for a new energy supplier STAY AWAY FROM NPOWER AT ALL COSTS.
Summary: The most incompetent and inept company I have every had the misfortune of dealing with.
