I rang npower a couple of days ago to change the amount I pay on my direct debit for gas and electric - basically the bill was higher than I thought so I wanted to up my payments. I also wanted to change a spelling mistake on my name that was on my bill - they missed a letter out.

First I was put on hold for 15 minutes, listening to classical music with increasing rage. When I finally got through to a person and told him what I wanted, his reply on both counts was "sorry, I can't do that". He couldn't (wouldn't) change either the spelling mistake OR the direct debit amount. Said he couldn't even access my account till next month.

Not only that, he couldn't even put a note on the account to do what I wanted when it was "accessible". Basically told me I had to RING BACK in June and go through the whole process again, costing me time, money and any patience I might miraculously have left.

Crap, crap, crap customer service. I'd move, only I bet my they couldn't "access" my account to close it!! >:(

We changed from this lot to EDF, glad we did.
