Advantages: NONE
Disadvantages: Everything - overpriced, rude, uncaring.
Well after just finishing on the phone to NPower crying and everything I felt compelled to do a review to warn people exactly what this company is like, they do not care about their customers, they would rather we freeze than help, says a lot about their customer service!!
Basically perhaps my own fault, my boiler broke and so I did not need to use any gas so for 5 months I didn't credit my gas meter, the money was better spent elsewhere as far as I was concerned plus we needed to put more on our electric meter due to using an immersion to heat our water. I was never made aware that even thought I wasn't using gas I still had to pay £2.65 (or so I was told 2 weeks ago, today the price has gone up to £3.70 minimum which apparently it's been for months!) standing charge so for the 5 months my arrears have been building up.
So 5 months on I get a letter from NPower asking who was supplying my gas as they had not receieved a payment from me in 5 months, I didn't think anything of it as I still had no use for gas. My landlord then informs me I am getting a new combi boiler installed so I went to get some gas, put £5 on and it automatically took £3.50 off and left me with £1.50, my son and husband shared a bath last night and this morning we have no gas left!! Bleeding expensive bath eh???
I then topped it up with the last of our money until Monday, £7, put it on the meter and it takes £4.90 off, leaving us with £2.10 to last us 3 days!!! I phoned NPowe panicking because we need this for hot water (heating we can do without this weekend as its quite warm but now we have no immersion!) I speak to a lady (who I am so tempted to name and shame but I won't!) who patronises me and informs me there is nothing NPower can do, they will continue to take whatever they want until the arrears is paid off, 70% of everything I put in the meter and then 30p a day thereafter! I explained that I was suffering from a long term illness and so at present until I am more stable we are on benefits so how on earth do they expect us to put £50 a week on to our gas and hope we get enough for a bath daily, no answers were given except 'there is nothing we can do!' I told them we have a small toddler but they still didn't care. I am panicking now because winter we will freeze, NPower's advice was to get a LOAN to pay them off, I was gobsmacked!!
NPower are disgusting animals and I would rather gauge my eyeball out with a rusty fork than stay with them, at present I am switching suppliers and contacting EnergyWatch about them, they should not be allowed to treat people like this. I have said I will pay off the debt at £3.50 a week like I used to do with British Gas but this isn't good enough for them.
Please noone go with this company!! They do not help the disabled or the sick like they claim to do, considering this company has only been running since April 2000 they should be ashamed of themselves. I would quote stuff off there website but it's covered in fairy dust to make them sound great when infact they are far from it.
Just wanted to add that if I could give no stars (or minus haha!) I would, they don't even deserve 1!
Summary: If you are considering going with these cowboys please don't!
