Advantages: None! I suppose that they actually came out in the very end is an advantage lol
Disadvantages: EVERYTHING!
God where do I start! I moved into my new flat about 7 weeks ago now and the property was already with N Power. We have a gas meter and an electric meter, unfortunately both with N Power. When we moved in, there were debts on both meters from the previous tenants, I dont understand how this happened and when I called N Power and asked the first time they didnt know either, their answer was that it just happens.HELPFUL!
Anyway, I called them to get the meters reset so that there were no debts on them anymore and they said they could come and do the electric one only but the gas had to be run down so there was no power on that one before they was willing to come out. We had already put money on the electric meter without realising there was a debt on there and it had taken our money. So the man comes out and resets the meter and puts the money on there that we have already spent so we had like £30 on there lol.
The gas took forever to run down, we havent had our heating on as yet as its only just started getting cold, and with only one shower a day and washing up it was only going down 13p a day. After 3 weeks of running it down, we called N Power back up, I was kept on hold for half an hour and from a mobile it cost me £7. When I got put through to a lady she said I was on this callout thing that meant i had to wait until 6pm for someone to come out. I thought this was weird as the man who had come to do the electric was on a 4 hour call out-I had called at 10am.
At half 5 there was still no sign of the engineer so I called them jus to check he was coming. Again £7 later and half hour on hold I got through to a man who took all my details again and said he's check with the different company who sent out the engineers about where they were. Another 20 minutes later and another fiver down he came back on and asked me not to shout at him as it wasnt his fault (very proffesional) but the lady who had processed it before had done it wrong. He said we were now on 4 hour callout and that we would have someone with us by half 9. Luckily even though we had been told to run our gas power down I had enough to have one shower and it was a Friday night so I was off out but my other half was in.
Off I went and at 10pm still no one had come, my other half had text me saying still no sign. I was stood outside a pub at 12MIDNIGHT and I had a phone call-from the gas engineer saying he was on his way. I laughed my head off, MIDNIGHT and he wanted to come round. I knew my other half would be waiting up for me though so I said to the man to ring him. Got a text from partner 10 minutes later saying the man was coming at half 1-how ridiculous.
I got in at 2 and went straight to bed and woke up the next morning, got up to have a shower. When I got up I realised that we had no gas but I thought that was because the gas had been reset so we had nothing on the meter, so off I went to the shop to charge the card. I put £20 on it and took it back to the meter, where it took £12 off the card to pay the debt THE IDIOT ENGINEER never reset-what the hell was he doing there if he didnt even do the job. I went and told my other half, he was fuming!
Called N Power again, kept me on hold AGAIN, told me to run down what I had on there now, so another week, and called them again-on hold again, and the man came out at 11pm to do it the other day but couldnt refund the money we had put on there-unlike the electric that could be put straight back on the meter. Then the man who came said we had to get a new card I spoke to N Power who said it would be sent out by recorded delivery and be with me the next day-I waited 6 days for it.
They're just awful-please dont go with these people!
Summary: Do not go with N Power-it will be your worst decision ever!
