Advantages: Good customer service
Disadvantages: expensive compared to other companies
I am very pleased today as moneysaving expert has announced that npower are cutting their prices for energy bills! I am currently a customer with them for both electric and gas. I cant change to a cheaper one as Im in rented accomodation and its all too much hassle with the landlord.
What can I say, they send gas and electric to us, so it works fine. I pay by direct debit every month. £40 for gas and £20 for electric. They have only just had a meter reading off us for electric so that will probably go up. Thank god the heating is now off and I should be owed some money by them by July which will be nice.
I found a freephone number for them on saynoto0870.com, which has helped no end, as now I dont have to pay to call them, I can be on hold as long as they want. Recently Ive only had to be on hold for about a minute before i got through to speak to someone. They were very helpful, polite and were able to fully answer my questions about meter readings.
The meter reading through the website does not work. I submitted a reading in november and they never received it. They did however receive an overpayment so not sure what is going on with their website.
I get my bills online, mainly to save paper, and also so that I always get my bill and it doesnt get lost in the post. It was really easy to switch to that through the website.
Overall they charge a lot for their service, and I would have changed long ago. However their customer service is great now that I dont have to pay to phone them.
Summary: its a necessity
