A representative of npower cold called at my door a couple of days ago, highlighting the virtues of their combined utilities service, though unnervingly without any literature to back this up.

Indeed, I expressed that I was not even aware of the brand. The rep jogged my mind of the advert with the lady caught in the nude when a gas man comes round. I remembered it, but remained unaware of the company name or logo at the end of the ad.

Eventually, he convinced me that savings were to be had and I signed up, though declined to give any bank details despite much attempted persuasion. I insisted that I would pay my first bill by cheque.

I immediately (though still too late) read other DooYoo-ers views on the company and realised that I may have signed up for a poor service. What is most distressing is that I have just seen the afore-mentioned advertisement and it is not for npower at all, but a cable TV company!

If one of their salepersons has to resort giving npower credit for another company's publicity campaign, then I have severe doubts about the capabilities and veracity of the service as a whole.

I shall be cancelling the contract first thing tomorrow, though BEWARE of this company that has the need to lie to gain one's custom. And never give an unsolicited salesperson your bank details. It just isn't worth the hassle.
