This review is about Npower Hometeam which I used recently to have my boiler serviced.

When the time came for my boiler to be serviced I looked at various companies. I have been with Npower for 3 years and have had no problems as yet so I thought I would look on their website. I clicked into their gas boiler services section and there was an advert showing that they did a 30 point check. It also stated they had a special offer of £49.99 at the moment with the usual price being £72.50. I decided to go ahead and book a service, I did this online.

The process was easy I gave them my name, address, contact no etc. You reserve an appointment date and choose either am or pm, I decided on Saturday morning. Once you have completed all the information needed you will receive a confirmation email. This gives you all the details on when you have reserved the appointment for and also what happens next.

Basically you will receive a call from Npower to take payment and also to confirm the appointment details. It does state that even though you have reserved an appointment in busy periods it may be subject to change.

In my case I received a phone call from Npower 2 days later and was told that the appointment I made for Saturday (am) was no longer available but that Sunday (am) was. Which was fine and it worked out better as I was now free to go out on Saturday. I was told it would be between 8.30 - 12.30 and that the engineer would call around 15 - 20 mins before they arrived.

Well Sunday came and at around 9.10am the engineer called to say he would be around 30 minutes, and he arrived around 9.30. He carried out a very thorough service and checked both the boiler and the gas meter. As he worked he explained the different pocedures he was carrying out which was very helpful. Luckily our boiler had no problems and it did not take that long for him to complete the service. We received a print out which gave readings from the flue. After the service was finished he completed a gas appliance service & repair record sheet for us to keep also.

Summary: All in all I would recommend Npower Hometeam as the engineer was helpful and thorough.

Sounds like decent value, but they need to improve that appointment booking service from the sounds of it.
