Advantages: Cheaper Bills

Disadvantages: Dishonest Staff, Being Conned into Signing Contracts

I have nothing to say about Npowers service per say. What I wish to write about is the disgusting way in which at least some of their sales personnel behave.

I was visited this week by an Npower representative, who enquired as to who my current electricity supplier was. When I told him, I was told that Npower had bought this company out. Therefore, all supplies would be changing over to Npower within the next few weeks. I was also told I needed to sign a form to check that they had my correct name & address, & my preferred payment method, which I did.

Subsequently, I double checked with my current supplier, who informed me that the information I had been given was incorrect. They have not been taken over by Npower, & I was conned into signing over my supply.

I have written to Npower to cancel the contract, and also to tell them why I have cancelled. I have also written to the Electricity regulation board to inform them. I accept that I was naive in accepting what this salesman said at face value. However, I feel it is disgusting that such practises are carried out. If their service is so good, why are they employing people who lie in this manner? I hope I have been able to cancel this contract in time, but I worry that more vulnerable people will not be able to do so. Yes, a few unscrupulous salesmen spoil things for genuine company representatives, but maybe the company itself should vet its sales people more carefully.

We suffered exactly the same approach when living in London. I took up our complaints with OFGEM, the Regulator who intervened. nPower subsequently claimed that their salesman had left.

Hi, and welcome to dooyoo. It just shows you how low people will sink to get a sale.
Hope you enjoy it here. Shabbs:o)
