Didn't even turn up (NPower)

Advantages: None as far as I know.

Disadvantages: Utterly incompetent, even when starting new contracts, and rude into the bargain.

I am getting rid of Snotty Shower for failing to manage my personal information properly and went to NPower on the (apparently personal but you never know) recommendation of someone in a retail shop.

Well, NPower are at least as bad as Snotty Shower.

When I asked them for a contract, they wrote to me asking for gas and electricity meter point reference numbers. After some effort I extracted these numbers from Snotty Shower and their partners in crime and telephoned them through to NPower.

A few weeks later NPower wrote to me again asking for gas and electricity meter point reference numbers.

I telephoned NPower again and provided the numbers. I asked why they had not been recorded the first time and was advised this would be investigated. They told me the numbers were now recorded and the next thing to come would be the direct debit mandate.

Today they wrote to me and told me the transfer was off because "certain information" had not been provided. I telephoned and asked what. They said the gas and electricity meter point reference numbers had not been provided.

Apparently, it's unreasonable of me to expect not to have to provide the same information three times. NPower can't tell me why it keeps forgetting this information and making me go through the rigmarole of restarting the process every time it does. It can't even be bothered to find out and get back to me. In fact, it can't be bothered to get this right even though I am a new customer and have told them that I'm leaving my existing supplier because of similar incompetence.

So I've told NPower it can stick its contract up its arse and am about to write to it instructing it under the terms of the Data Protection legislation to stop processing and to delete all information it holds about me.

Competition? Don't make me laugh.
