Advantages: excellent customer service, knowlegeable staff, cheap
Disadvantages: none
Powergen really is like a breath of fresh air after my recent wrangles with n power. Powergens customer service is excellent ,I have had to phone them a few times due to the cock ups made by npower they answer the phone promptly, once within 3 rings. They actually reply to e-mails normally within the hour and all calls you make to them are free yes FREE compare that to your power supplier. they offer very competitive prices on their gas ,electricity and telephone service and they have a scheme called "one bill" whereby you can have all your services listed on one bill saving you time and extra expense. If you sign up on line you get a £50 cheque back if you take all 3 services or £30 if you only take gas and electricity. Thier website is really professional and quick and they will soon be offering a new service E-Mailing your bill to you which you can also pay on line too.So no more traipsing off to the bank or post box to pay it. Their customer service rating is the highest of all the utilities which you can check out at www.uswitch.com .The customer service rating is as important as the price because its no good getting really cheap electricity and gas if the company never answer the phone or cant get the bill correct as in the case of npower.

- 24/11/04 How long have you worked for Powergen?
Answer the phone within 3 rings, hmm re-phrase that. A computer answers the phone within 3 rings, then you are put on hold for about 2 hours. After being told I don't exist by powergen, then a few days after receiving a red letter saying that I owed money, I find your comments slightly made up. The automated phone system is a joke, but at least you get to talk to it, which is more than can be said for any humans at powergen. After sending bills to the wrong name to my house I was told that the bill referred to a previous occupier, to which I explained the house was new and I was the first owner. I was then told to throw the bill away as I would get a proper one in a few days. 2 weeks later another red letter comes through the door with the wrong name again, phone powergen and get told to ignore it yet again. They really don't have a clue what is happening!!!
