Southern Electric....and gas!!
Member Name: MEL0611
Advantages: Good customer service, cheap bills, don't let you build up massive debit or credit accounts
Disadvantages: None that I am aware of
I have been with Southern Electric for nearly 5 years now, this being the time that I have lived in my house. On moving in we decided to stick with the current supplier to the property, this being Southern Electric as it was one less hassle to sort amongst all the other madness that comes with moving.
Like I said we have been in the property for 5 years now and I am still very happy with the service, standard and prices that I recieve from Southern Electric. Do not be fooled by the title of this company, they do also provide your Gas supply and if you do require duel-fuel you recieve a percentage discount. Speaking of discounts, you also recieve different benefits according to which plan you go with. We opt for the direct debit option which takes 5% off your bills.
The company offer different payment options, some of which include on-line billing, a standard energy taffif which is advertised as 'simple with no frills!', Energy Plus is where a charitable donation is made to the British Heart foundation or the fixed price options (currently running until september 2010)
We used to have bills arrive for us to view every 3 months. They were very easy to understand and showed the figures in an accurate way. As we pay via direct debit we knew what was going to the Company each month but needed to check if we were in debit situation or in credit. As I tend to air on the side of caution, we always paid slightly more than what we needed so were always in credit but during one cold winter we went into a debit account but rather than being hit with a massive increase I phoned the very friendly helpdesk and increased my payment by only a couple of pound.
As we were often in a credit situation I was really pleased when the company wrote to me telling me that they would be returning an amount of money directly into my bank, great news! I was really pleased as rather than make interest on my money they were happy enought to return it without leaving me in a situation where I could go into a negative figure.
We have no switched to on-line billing. It helps the environment as I was told it costs 40p to produce each bill so in return I make a saving on my bills! The website for the company ~ www.southenelectric.co.uk is really useful and you can manage your account from there as well as being able to view current unit prices.
If you did think of switching to this provide by entering your post code on the website you can look at costs for your area. The website also lets you see energy saving ideas and how the Company gains its sources of gas and electric.
In summary I am very happy with my provider and if I do move house in the future I would take the time to switch to Soputhern in the new property was running with someone else, The customer service standards alone are a massive plus for me. I beleive they are competitive in prices as I do often check comparrisons to others. A great provider of something so essential.
Summary: A great provider that fingers crossed I have had no trouble with.
