Advantages: I have a water supply
Disadvantages: I pay for water I don't use
I moved home in October 2001, for the first time having to pay water charges. I live on my own and am only there during evenings and weekends as I work full time. I consider myself to use very little water in comparison with my neighbours who are at home all day and have several children. I therefore begrudge paying the same rate as my neighbours when I use a considerably smaller volume of water as they do - so it made sense for me to ask for a water meter to be installed. That was in October 2001, an engineer from Three Valleys Water (TVW) came to the property to fit a meter. He could not find either an internal or external stopcock to fit the meter to. He went away saying he would be in contact soon. After 2 weeks he hadn't called so I contacted Three Valleys Water and asked them what they were planning to do. 'We will contact you shortly' they said, but never did. I call most weeks and have wrote letter upon letter to complain, none have ever even been acknowledged to this day. No-one wants to know, I don't think they know what to do but won't say so. In the meantime I am expected to pay the water rated bill - surely the water companies should be encouraging us to be economical with water not allowing me to use as much water as I like for a flat fee. Doesn't it make sense that I only pay for what I use? Three Valleys Water are just not up to scratch! Poor customer service, each department does not know what the other one is doing, they do not know what keeping their word means. Do they know how to operate a telephone? Put simply they are just out to make as much money as they possibly can! BEWARE: Think twice before moving into or switching to Three Valleys Water!
