Any friend recommending this company aren't a true friend, if they are a representative their only thinking of themselves .Trying to cancel everything with UW but they are dragging heels even though I've personally checked meter numbers with both parties UW and british gas (new supplier)Stay well away or get out as fast as you canIt's the biggest scam ever
Where to start? I sold my house on 10th January 2014 and the house was left vacant since 17th august 2013 when my tenants left the house. But little did I know but they had switched to the utility warehouse back in 2011 (Gasp). So when my tenants left I rang British Gas gave them the meter readings, my forwarding address and asked for a quarterly bill, which is the usual procedure. My house sold in September and took 4 months to finally complete. As the house was vacant there was minor usage £17 ish over the time it was empty (5 months). When I handed the keys over on the 10th Jan I found the meters had been removed, the utility warehouse had taken me to court using estimated meter readings and issued a court order. All this comes to £795. After numerous protracted phone calls, letters and emails they will not change their ridiculous bill and cannot accept they couldn't even read the meters at the back of my house. See it was vacant and had minor usage! Instead they issued estimated bills, sent final warnings and kept compounding more charges for a tiny little bill! Frankly it's insane, they are just after profit and are abusing their power!
I joined Utility warehouse when I moved into my present home on the advice of my daughters partner and for the first couple of years it was ok. The prices where stable the broadband and email were ok then the dropouts became more and more frequent and email taking from hours to days to send and receive. then in Nov 2013 I got a letter saying that they where putting up the prices by 6.9% and bragging that this was 2% cheaper than the big 6 they also tripled the standing charges on the gas and electric, all the other small suppliers kept their prices down I would say Utility Warehouse want to join the big boys and are starting by keeping their price in line with them. Then they removed the free peak time phone calls (the main reason I joined) but as I mainly use the phone only in the evening I put up with it, then today I got my bill and discovered I had been charged for all my evening calls, they hadn't told me that they start their off-peak at 7pm customer services tried to tell me they had and sent me the Nov 2013 letter to prove it, but as I had already told them there is not one mention of off-peak start and end times, according to customer couldn't care less I apparently should have been aware besides the fact I had only ever had a free call package. At age 66 I felt like I was being talked down to like a child. I think all these other commenters who are praising Utility Warehouse either work for them or are agents, I'm moving my business elswhere.
Now Being Taken To Court I was recommended this company by friend and thought why not if I can save money so there rep came round and to see us at our home and went through his sales pitch and gave us a estimate on how much it would cost and how we could save money with the cash back card. Cash Back Card Review. They were claiming that I could save and could being the operative work 10-20% of what I spend on the card this might be true for some people but I bet it is a virtually !!UN-obtainable Amount!! The Cash back Card (cash back against your bills for spending on a pre pay credit card) Returned us on average £5-6 on a spend of £200.00 which works out at about 3% of what you spend BUT you have to pay £1.50 a month for the card so it actually works out at about we got back on a average with 2.5% cash back about £4.20 not much of a saving as one of the other supply company's will give you more that that off for just setting up a DIRECT DEBIT. Energy Review. The prices were much more that I was paying on average per month we used to pay £90.00 in the summer and £120.00 in the summer and £120 in the winter combined. Utility Warehouse Pricing Review. We Paid a random amount each month which did not reflect how much we had used. One month it would be £70.00 the next it would be £200.00 no matter what time of the year it was. Billing Review We never revived a written bill just a email saying a fee for the month and a link to log to a website no actual copy was sent to us ever. The bills which were explained as being simple to understand they most certainly are not they have different fees broken up over 4 pages. You will never revive a reminder if a payment is missed. If you miss a payment the amount will not be added to your next bill. So you Will have no idea that have even missed a payment if you are like me and only check if you are informed of a issue. My Story After missing a payment 3 months later I get a call on my way home from work from a collections department. I asked why they are contacting me they say I have missed a payment so I say how much and what month was it from they could not tell what month it was from as they did not know. Now I ask would you give some company that calls you money that cant tell you the details?? I am suspicious so did not pay I said find out what month and I will check it they did not call me back so I call utility warehouse the next day to check it was not a scan they confirmed there was a outstanding balance so I asked them to send me details on how I could pay they sent me bank details via email I transferred the amount. Two months later I get a call from the agency again saying I have not paid them I provided them sort code, account no, amount, and date of transfer and asked them to confirm they had the payment again they did not call me back. Then I receive a letter saying they are taking me to court for the amount as they cant find the payment I only found this out as they tried to bill me for £600 this month with no missed payment letters, no call backs from the collection agency, No offer of a payment plan. I am still fighting this now save yourself the stress of dealing with this incompetent company and go else ware for your energy. Conclusion This company is based on a tier system which works a bit like this one person recruits more and they all sell products so the people at the bottom get a small portion of profit and the person a the top gets more and so on. With some clever marketing they have found a way of making you jump through hoops to earn a small discount on your bills attractive when effect what is happening is they are using you to make them money. They do this by making it attractive to shop through there clubhouse which earns money for referrals to there products. In my opinion it is far easier to just shop else-ware and take advantage of simpler deals which don't take up your you time.
They give you the HARD SELL promising savings when in actual fact you end up owing huge amounts of money, the customer service is a joke they give estimated bills and as in my case the meters did not even match my property...I waited a month for Broadband and finally I had to call them for an update they had no idea about any Broadband instillation another month went by and still no broadband they blamed it on Talk Talk my previous supplyer eventually I had to go with BT. The amount I signed up for was no where near the bills I was getting, they could not explain the tariffs and I could not understand the customer service rep I asked to speak to a manager/supervisor and was hung up on. My friends who joined UW also found the same problems one owing £1,525 according to UW they had been on the wrong tariff. PLEASE avoid them at all cost. I have now been told that the fabulous reviews UW do get on various sites are actually written by company reps.
Gas, electricity, phone, broadband and my mobile all on one bill. Plus a few quid off when I shop at Sainsbury's (even for petrol). What's not to like? They save me tons of money and they also make life much easier. I was signed up by my brother in law, so there's a personal contact with a distirbutor there as well which always helps. I would definitely recomment this company, it's saved me so much hassle.
Hi all i am a customer with utility warehouse and have been for two years. Any dealings i have had with the customer services have always been curteous and really polite. yes sometimes they dont answer the phone in 15 seconds, but what company does. Around the world we have got accustomed to customer services being shoddy, but i can honestly say they have been superb. i am not a distributor with them, but if i were going to choose a company to go with, it would most definately be them.look at the mobile phone offers, that will tell you how good they are.Anyone needing a second income you have nothing to lose. whats the alternative. best of luck
On the face of things, the idea behind Utility Warehouse sounds like a good idea. Initially it seems that there should be quite a good saving to be made if you follow the 'rules'. Unfortunately it isn't very well pointed out that you have to keep paying out to keep on track with these rules... Paying to join, paying for a card, paying for a second one, paying to stay a member, paying to spend your own money, paying to speak to them and PAYING WHEN THEY MAKE A MISTAKE. I think that I am quite good with contracts and dealing with paperwork, but even I got confused with how many direct debits and account numbers I needed to be a member! Apparently when one of these direct debits went 'wrong' I had to pay them £6 for them to tell me... As soon as I knew I called them and they promised everything was ok... Then they cancelled my membership card and told me I had to pay for a new one... 'Customer Services' have a pre-arranged script. They do not get into a conversation about what might have gone wrong. They do not make mistakes. The guy even told me to shut up whilst I was trying to explain what I thought had happened! There are no excuses. No apologies. No flexibility. They are right you are wrong. Their reliance on 'word of mouth' may ultimately become their own downfall.
WHEN I WAS SOLD THIS PRODUCT THE AGENT DID NOT HAVE A CLUE SHE WAS ALWAYS ON THE PHONE FOR ANSWERS ..I ENTERED INTO THE DEAL FOR GAS /ELECTRIC /PHONE ,WE WERE TOLD ABOUT THE CLUB ETC WE THOUGHT WE WOULD GET SOMETHING OUT OF THIS BUT WITH THIS COMPANY YOU PAY A STANDING CHARGE (FOR NOTHING ON FUEL BILL'S) YOU PAY FOR CLUB MEMBERSHIP (WE DO NOT USE BUT HAVE TO PAY IT )THE PEOPLE IN THE MAIN WERE RUDE OVER THE CONNECTION OF PHONE SERVICES THEY TRIED TO THREATEN WITH WORDS LIKE CONTRACT WHEN THE CONTRACT HAD BROKEN DOWN ,THEIR FAULT NOT MINE BUT THE THREAT WAS THEIR NEVER THE LESS AND THEY WERE NOT ACCURATE IN THEIR INFORMATION IN THE END I DID NOT PAY FOR CONNECTION I HAD WAITED IN SO LONG (3 DAYS )THEY HAD TO GIVE IT TO ME .I DO NOT KNOW THE COST PER UNIT OF GAS ELECTRIC SO CAN NOT DO A COMPARRISON PRICE EXCEPT ON COST.I HAVE THREE SERVICES GAS ELECTRIC TE;EPHONE THIS GIVES ME FREE CALL'S EVENINGS AND WEEKENDS BUT TO GET THIS I HAVE TO PAY CLUB MEMBERSHIP I PAY STANDING CHARGE SO I GAIN NOTHING BUT COSTS ARE INCREASED WITH STANDING CHARGE AND CLUB MEMBERSHIP £1.60 A MONTH FOR THE MEMBERSHIP ,ABOUT £2.00 FOR EACH GAS/ELECTRIC =£OVER 12 MONTHS WORK THIS OUT SO AM I SAVING ANYTHING .
I assume the five star rating that other posters are referring to are the ones which Utility Warehouse has been awarded in the 'Which' Magazine, the latest being in February and March this year. The 'Which' magazine does highly in-depth checks into any product and service they list in their magazine and copies of the original can be downloaded from the 'Which' website. The Utility Warehouse was given 5 stars for value for money and customer service. You can't argue with that.I have just become a customer and am amazed at how much I have saved in the first few months. I encountered a problem during the switch over with my phone and broadband but Utility Warehouse were quick to rectify it and their customer service reps are always very friendly and professional.
Hello, I am a distributor for the Utility Warehouse, I won't mention my website as it'll look like spam, I am also a customer so i cant see why i cant give an honest review anyway The truth is that the vast majority of the customers of the Utility warehouse are very happy with them. They offer many ways in which you can get your vital bills reduced each month. and new offers are coming out all the time. for example : unlimited min and texts for £20.00 per month (sim only) their mobile service uses the t-mobile network which now its combined with orange it the largest in the uk if you refer a friend, you get 0.5% per service they take of your bill. every month for as long as your friend stays a customer. no limit to the number you can recommend. the biggest plus side of the company is the cashback card which gives you 3% of all your spending back from ASDA and Sainsburys, 5% from B&Q, Argos, New Look, Next, M&S, Boots and 6% from Toys'r'us and many many more. do Npower give you £5 of your electric bill each week for shopping in asda, or £2 every time you put petrol in the car at sainsburys..... thought not ... do scottish power (20% increase on its way for SP customers) still sceptical, then look at the other companies involved - Mastercard, Sainsburys, M&S, New Look, Next, BHS, Argos - all of which are quality high street retailers. If you spend £500 per month in any of the shops above, you are basically getting your phonebill paid for each month for doing what you would do anyway. thanks for reading.
I've been a customer of utility warehouse for just over a year, not through choice my landlord told me I wasn't to change supplier! Everything went wrong from day 1, after living in the property for just 1 month I received a gas and electric bill for £708.88! £678 of tbat for electric alone! For a month!? I phoned their customer service line, what a bunch of heartless morons they are, to be told that I must be a high user! I'm not in all day, all my lightbulbs are energy efficient, energy efficiency b on washing machine, tumble dryer and fridge freezer, shower runs off the hot water tank. Tried to explain this to them and their whole attitude is like "tuff! It's your bill now pay it and be a good little girl and stop moaning!" I refused to pay that opening bill until they had sorted it out, I paid all my other bills that came until august when a bill for £1,127 arrived! I phoned the ever so unhelpful customer services to query and was met with the same ole it's your bill, it is right, now pay!!! 1 month later they had sent me a letter for court action, I let it go to court, where I defended myself, I had kept all tbe monthly invoices and when I showed these to tje judge he turned on the utility warehouse representative and said that there clearly had been a massive error made on their part and that they had till the end of the year to put it right! It's February now, utility warehouse have not done a thing to put my bill right, bit they are taking me back to court! They are bloody useless! Oh and it's only got a 1 star rating because you have to rate it!!
I concur that there are MANY fake reviews about Utility Warehouse by the agents in their pyramid scheme. They also make huge promises on their sales lines that they don't even try to live up to. The reality is that their services are so dire it's not funny. I have broadband and telephone services with them, although I'm desperately looking for another provider right now. I'd even take BT over these losers, and that's saying something! I've had no end of problems with connection speeds suddenly dropping and staying dropped, resulting in months of endless and fruitless calls to their customer service, which can take 40 minutes of waiting to even get to speak to anyone. And of course it's NEVER their fault. It's my pc (even though the speeds are the same on my xbox, ps3, laptop, ipod etc.) Or it's my cables. Or it's my configuration. I kid you not, I'm currently getting 384kbps download speeds on a 7.6mbps capacity line, according to BT's own line checker... that is to say my download speeds are one twentieth of what I'm paying for (actually, I'm paying the same as their 24mb customers so it's way less than that), and actually less than my upload speeds. Three weeks after reporting this (about the third time this has happened in a year... although they say they have no records of my previous issues...), and dozens of broken promises later, a BT engineer has just visited and confirmed my line condition is perfect, and concluded that the fault can only be with them. They of course completely deny this and are now basically scratching their heads and shrugging their shoulders. While I pay £25+ a month for dialup speeds. Their various fees have gone up about three times this year, and they keep adding new ways to charge me more. Believe it or not, they have now started charge me a 'top up' fee every month for not spending enough on my telephone bills... Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Like the plague!
When I signed up with the Utility Warehouse for 4 different services it was efficient and easy. It was all done on the phone and everything came on the same bill. However, when I moved out, nothing could be done on the phone. They sent forms to me and I then had to get the new people to fill it in and send it. For some reason they are unable to send forms to people who are not already customers. So this only works if the new people play ball. I have been paying almost £60 a month for 5 months for someone else to enjoy all four services. Although it has finally just been transferred the Utility warehouse say I can't get a refund and they can't deal with me as I am now a third party. Brilliant! If you use this company I suggest you get the forms long before you move, fill them out yourself and force the people that move in to sign it before you hand ove any keys
I don't usually write reviews, but after seeing obvious fake 'reviews' on this page (with their artificially-created 5 star ratings) going on about Utilise Warehouse being so good, I had to say something about it. You can tell fake reviews and these aren't that original either. Most likely written by the same person too. I won't say any more, other than what's obvious: anything that sounds too good to be true - usually isn't true.
