We have been customers of utility warehouse for only a short period of time and in fact have also been distributors of theirs also for this time. We thought we would be happy with them and of course be in for a good career oppotunity also, however unfortunately this is not the company for us.
To become a distributor basically works in the same way as a pyramid scheme, where you have an upline and then can recruit people to be underneath yourself and then gain customers to get a percentage of their bill payment every month paid to you as revenue.
Its a great idea and yes there are people in the business whom have made an awful lot of money however always remember when you get into these businesses at the very beginning there are always going to be millionnaires. To become a distributor you must pay £200 for the kit and then attend trainings which are 5-7 hours each time. If you are a good sales person and a pushy personality you can possibly do well in this business but dont even contemplate it if you are not of this character.
We signed up my mother as a customer and also a local pre school of us and when we started to process customers applications and contact customer services with various questions and information our troubles started and we have since had one problem after another.
Our internet connection was to change with them and ceased with our other operator however it was ceased by demand from utilty warehouse with sky, and yet utility had failed to process our application and forget to send us a router also. They came up with various excuses on the phone and then just stated our router would be with us in a weeks time, in the meantime no internet, which we use as part of our businesses.
Applications were continually returned and sent back as when we were told certain information on the phone it then came back to be wrong so this went on as a yoyo game at various points. Customer service calls are deemed to be answeed within 15 seconds. On my first 2 phonecalls this was correct my furthur phonecalls have averaged between 5-12 minutes, so not quite the 15secs as suggested.
The trainers are informative but dont give you all the information you need on the day and albeit they teach you not to be pushy at all thats exactly what they are doing. In fact I have found the whole way with them that it has been an incredibly pushy business with constant phonecalls and emails and hassel.
I was shocked with the attitude of one particular trainer whom at the last skills workshop training we went to pulled up an elderly man on not having his folder with him and indeed made a fool of him. This was incredibly undignified and disrespectful towards him and actually made me weep.
Upon one attendance at a training I had to leave due to unforseen and emergency circumstances and was treated with rudeness and almost anger because I had to go. Not the attitude I expect from high professionals.
We found this business professional at the beginning until you have problems and then they fail you considerably and can be considerably rude also. This is a typical pyramid scheme and with the exacting attitude of such also. Upliners are kind to you and helpful when you are working as much as possible and gaining customers as its all money in the bank for them but the moment you take time to focus on other things in your life or cannot attend to make them money at their request they will be rude and ignorant towards you.
All in all if you need a part time business then look for something you can do by yourself and work towards it and with it. Its so achievable to do this but to join these schemes unless you are thick skinned and pushy then dont entertain the idea because its only these characters which could do well. There are many millionnaires out there but only a small portion are from pyramid schemes and again this claims not to be one but one it is.
Summary: The utility scheme that might work or just might not!
