As I said in an earlier review I bought a Vax carpet washer a few weeks back. The solution that came with the washer wasn't very good it was the original formula and you only got a small amount. I got this as an add on item with Amazon for £8.00 for 1.4 litres.
The bottle is green in colour with an orange lid. It also has a handle for ease of useage as it is quite large.
This particular carpet cleaner is an ultra formula designed for use in high traffic areas. Vax claim it delivers the best cleaning performance of all of their cleaning solutions and will power through dirt and grime as well as neutralising and sanitising carpets and fabrics. Vax claim the solution breaks down stains with ease. The formula is also woolsafe.
The solution is clear in colour and it has a fresh smell to it. You need to use one capful for every 1litre of water. You need a Vax carpet cleaner to use this solution.
I found this much better than the Vax solution that came with my carpet cleaner. My carpet is a very thick pile and it's cream it hasn't been cleaned in a long while and in areas there was a build up of dirt.
The solution was effective at removing this dirt although I did need to go over some areas a few times. The solution left my musty carpets smelling fresh. It didn't leave any residue on my carpet and it didn't foam up like the other solution I had.
I would recommend this, it makes carpets look revitalised, it cleans and raises the pile making the carpet look a lot better.
I would give this 5 out of 5.
I recently treated myself to a decent carpet cleaner so thought to make it really worth getting I would buy the decent carpet cleaning solution too.
I did a little research, checked prices and reviews and decided to go for the Ultra+ and so far I am very happy with my choice.
Considering how little of the solution I needed - 3 caps in my 3.5litre capacity cleaner - I was very impressed with its cleaning ability.
I tried the high traffic area in my front hall first, which was also stained with coffee spills and marks left by the dog when we were still struggling to get her toilet trained. As you can imagine my carpet was a bit of a mess and we had decided to try cleaning it just once to see the effects before going to the expense of replacing it. Much to me delight all the stains bar one disappeared but, on the second go in that area, even the particularly stubborn mark vanished.
It leaves a subtle clean smell in its wake which disappears as the carpet dries.
Amazon is currently selling the 1.4l bottle for just £9.91 with free postage which is a price I am very happy to pay.
I would definitely recommend this product and it is well worth hunting for bargains as they can be found.
Vax Ultra+ Orange Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning Solution 1.42 litre
Ever since I aquired my Vax 6131 a couple of years ago, I have been using a range of cleaning solutions in it, from those cheap ones from the £1 store to the upmarket 'Comet' professional extractor cleaner detergent (ask a professional carpet cleaner what cleaner they use & I'll bet you it's Comet) & all the brands inbetween, such as 1001. All of them claim to clean & leave the carpet smelling fresh, prevented from future dirt & all that, but only Most of them actually do the job they claim to do. Vax however, is the first choice when you have a genuine Vax carpet cleaning machine, but many people do choose the cheaper options. Personally I don't see the point in buying something for half the price of a good brand but end up using twice as much, you might aswell have the branded product. I once brought some Astonish one (old formula) but ended using half of a 750ml bottle for 1 carpet cleaning session! Whereas I used only 2 capfuls (80ml) of 1001! It dose'nt make sense! In 2009 Vax lauched a new carpet cleanigng formula to accompany it's AAA (Anti Allergen Additive) carpet cleaning solution, Vax Ultra. It is apparently Vaxes most powerful carpet cleaning solution EVER. In 2010 they launched Vax Ultra+ Solution, this is basically no difference to the Vax Ultra, but only this has 2 fresh fragrances, Ocean & Orange. The price of it is high, but in my opinion, it is well worth it. Read the review to find out more about this product.
About the Vax Ultra+ Cleaning Solution
The Vax cleaning solution comes in a 1.42 litre bottle which is green coloured, with pictures of Oranges surrounding the all familiar 'Vax' logo. We are told this is a 'limited edition' formula along with the Ultra+ logo. We are also told this is Vaxs best ever formula & it is a Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning Solution. This formula is also 'Woolsafe Approved' aswell as giving your home (& carpets) a burst of orange freshness. During a limited time last summer, Vax made a multifunction model called 'Scent of Summer' which included this solution & some orange flavoured Vacuum Bag freshener sticks. The smell of the cleaning solution is a fresh & zingy orange smell which smells nicer than any other cleaning solution i've tried. At Makrp it was only £4.69 for 1 bottle, so for that price I bought 4, sold 3 on eBay & kept one for myself! I made a profit!
The Vax Ultra+ Cleaning Solution claims to:
*Give your home a burst of orange freshness
_ *Be specially formulated to clean a wide range of spots & stains - aswell as pre-teating stains beforehand
*Power through High Traffic areas (e.g. hallways)
*Be Woolsafe Approved
...does it live up to these claims? Finnd out in my experiences...
My Experiences of the Said Product
The dosage instructions recommend you use 1 capful (approx. 40ml) per litre of warm water (not exceeding 50c celsius). I firstly tried it on my cream carpet that had several dark blotches & spots. I used a full 4 litre container but did'nt use 4 capfuls (180ml) as recommended. I substituted 4 capfuls to 2 capfuls (80ml) & it still got out tough high traffic stains & powered through dirt. The solution also did'nt over foam either which is good as some cheaper versions do. I still added some fabric conditioner to the tank which sorted out some froth that had occured on the top of the dirty water in the tank. I also pre-treated some particulate stains by making a solution up by using 1 capful (40ml) to a bowlful of hot water. I then rubbed the stains with one of those J-Cloths & they soon came out by following with the Vax 6131.
Even though this cleaner is expensive, it is well worth it! Well, I paid less than £5 for one bottle but if you look on places such as Argos.co.uk, it is about £15.49 for 1 bottle. It cleans effectively & leaves a fresh scent behind, which smells very summery indeed! I've tried the AAA but the cleaning power in that compares nothing to the cleaning power of this! It really is a truly good carpet cleaning detergent for your carpet washer!
