VAX Appliances V-020 ... to this I had a bissell upright proffessional carpet/floor cleaning system. That system cost 4x the amount of this vax carpet cleaner. The winner...? the vax hands down. As it s not an upright there is much less to go wrong with this, it s easier to clean the bits and the main unit. The cleaning quality is very good although it doesn t dry the carpet as well as I would like - but then again going back to the price I can see why. The cord wraps around the unit for storage and the parts fit together firmly and only fit one way so mistakes are not possible. Dyson DC14 Animal ... owned a dyson for years now aI wouldn t be with out one. decided I would try out this animal with being a pet owner. Emptying the cylinder is very simple- just a flick of a switch. It was surprising to see just how much pet hair- invisible to the eye- the machine had picked up. The suction power is second to none and on the odd occasion when it picks up something it shouldn t with the parts dismantling- it is easy to see where where any blockage is. One thing I do find however is that compared to other vacuum cleaners on the market dysons tend to be a little heavier. The telescopic wand is great for vacuuming the stairs. Dyson DC23 Animal ... last vaccum cleaner wasn t performing like it should and I then knew I had to go for a Dyson, a treat as just bought first house and seeing as a lot of them are currently on offer with big savings. I saved about £90 from the RRP on an Argos saving but I cannot remember the price now! This model is a compact stowaway type machine, tucks away very neatly, and so many funky little ways of storing the onboard tools, the hose hooks onto the machine when in storage so not left flapping about for you to trip over.
