Advantages: So many
Disadvantages: It doesn't sweep right up to the edge and corners as well as Henry
I have a Henry hoover, which I am really happy with, I also have a Bissell carpet sweeper, which this review is going to be about.
Picture this if you will, you've spent the whole morning cleaning, dusting and hoovering, your house is lovely and tidy, then it's lunch time, you all sit up at the table and tuck into a nice lunch. No matter how hard you try to keep your house looking pristine, there will always be a collection of crumbs under the table which quickly spread around the room.
This would happen in my house on a regular basis, then a friend suggested I get a carpet sweeper, I remember my Nan used to have a carpet sweeper, I always thought they were for old people or people who had trouble lifting a regular hoover.
I got my Argos book out and found this Bissell carpet sweeper, it cost around £10, I thought this was a fairly cheap price to pay to keep my house looking neat and tidy.
Well what can I say, it's fantastic, I use it on a regular basis, it's quick and easy to use, light weight, it doesn't use any electric, theres no power cord to get tangled up in, it's compact and requires very little storage space, it's far easier to use this when cleaning under the beds, it also gose further under the lounge furniture than my Henry does, the kids think it's a novelty and are quite happy to use it.
Basically its a well made metal box with a pole handle, underneath is one large roller brush and two smaller ones, which sweep all the dust and dirt into two compartments, another bonus, theres no messy dust bags to dispose of, you simply lift the two under flaps and tip the contents into your rubbish bin once you've finished using it. Attached to the pole handle is a cleaning tool, it looks like a curved comb and you use it to comb the roller brushes to remove any hair or dirt thats been caught around it.
In conclusion, I love my carpet sweeper, I feel it's saving me money as I don't have to get my Henry out everyday, which does use elecricity, it's great for picking up crumbs, every day mess, pet fur and my daugthers long hair, it will never replace my Henry though as my only critisims are: it doesn't sweep right up to the edges and corners, you can't really sweep the stairs with it and it doesn't work so well on hard floors (wooden, laminate, tiles etc).
Summary: So handy to have, I wish I'd get one years ago
