Not the experience I had hoped for! (Bissell Easy Vac)

I bought the Bissell Easy Vac from Asda for £30. Before I bought it i looked at some online reviews of the product on thier website a I had not heard of Bissell before and everything I read was really possitive. I live in a small 2 bed house and needed something lightweight to get up and down the stairs and which was small enough to keep in a small corner of the airing cupboard, this vacuum seemed like a great option. When I first got it, it was great, picked up really well, was easy to empty and the hose stretches suprisingly far to get in to all those hard to reach areas. Its bagless and the onboard dustbin has a capacity of 750ml so doesn't need emptying too often. However one day not long after I bought it I noticed something on the carpet which the vacuum wasn't picking up so I got down on my hands and knees with the hose. It wasn't until I got a closer look that i noticed that it wasn't dirt it was in fact a singe in my carpet. It wasn't there before I started vacuuming so I back tracked around my house to see if there were anymore. There was one on the landing, one on the stairs and another in the middle of my living room. On closer inspection of the vacuum we couldn't see anything that could have caused this to happen but we did notice that the flex of the power lead was coming away, something you wouldn't expect to happen so soon after buying an electrical item. We immediately took the vacuum back to Asda, who were very helpful, they contacted Bissell for us who told us to take pictures of the affected areas and send them off with 2 quotes for new carpet. This seemed acceptable for the damage caused and we did as they asked straight away. We waited a while to hear from them and we eventually got a letter back, along with the letter was a questionaire. We filled this out and sent it back and are still waiting to hear back from them, the whole process seems to be taking a very long time. We are currently trying to sell our house and big singe marks as soon as people walk in is not the impresion we hoped for. As all the other reviews I have read seem to be possitive I can only assume that I was unfortunate enough to buy a fault product, still Bissell as a company are not the easiest to deal with.

Summary: You definately get what you pay for with this vacuum.
