Advantages: Cleans well

Disadvantages: noisy

We bpought this carpet and upholstery cleaner just over a month ago and have used it a couple of times in different rooms.

When you first unpack your cleaner you will find the following parts in the box:
Main body of the machine
Upper handle
Tool caddy
upholstery tool
Tough stain tool
Turbo brush
spraying crevice tool
Instruction manual
Spare brush drive belt
and a bottle of shampoo.

At this stage I would recomend that you read the manual before you try to assemble the cleaner. I found it fairly easy to assemble.
It has the following features:

SmartTemp, automatic temperature control heats the cleaning solution as it is applied to the carpet.

SmartMix, mixes the shampoo with tap water at variable settings, water only,Normal mix suitable for most cleaning jobs and High Traffic for cleaning heavily soiled areas.

Dirtlifter powerbrush, gently grooms the carpet as it lifts out deep down dirt, self adjusting brush height for all carpets.

Tank in TankThe clean tap water is held inside a bladder and as you clean the bladder empties and the dirty water is collected in the tank outside the bladder.

Flow indicator,as the name suggests lets you see when solution is being applied.

Ready tools dial, set this to floor cleaning or tools/pre-heat as required.

The machine comes with quite a long hose attatched for cleaning upholstery and stairs with relative ease. Attatching the tools is easy.

Although the machine is fairly heavy I think most people would be able to use it without too much trouble. When we started to clean our carpet we didn't think it was too bad but when you see the colour of the water it sucks back up it will shock you. We have four kids so you can imagine the spills that can occur on an almost daily basis. Our lounge is 23feet x 18 feet but it only took about 30 minutes to clean.Drying time will depend on how much solution you use on the carpet but do try not to walk on the carpet till its dry.

I also cleaned our fabric suite using the turbo brush attatchment and it brought the colours out just like new, they looked faded before cleaning but now they are almost as bright as the day we bought the suite, again it only took me about 30 minutes to clean.

We found that it did a good job of cleaning our carpets, it wont bring them back to "like new" but it will make them look a lot better.

Bissel reccomend their own shampoo but we found that in some shops it can be as much as £14 for a 750ml bottle, very expensive. We found carpet shampoo in B&Q priced £6 for a 5 litre bottle and it cleaned just as well as the Bissel shampoo. But for some reason Bissel say that using non bissel shampoo may harm the machine and invalidate the guarantee.

At around the £180-£190 mark it is an expensive machine but I think it will pay for itself through time. All in all I think this is a good machine with good cleaning power and well worth the expense.
