Bush BU-203 Bagless Upright Vacuum
Advantages: Picks up brilliantly, get deep down cleaning with this vacuum.
Disadvantages: Not really.
Well my Dyson has finally died R.I.P. It is an understatement to say I was devastated, it started to smoke and burn as I was vacuuming and I was looking at it thinking please noooo! But alas it has gone to Dyson heaven :(.
I needed a replacement pretty quickly as I vacuum the carpets in the boys rooms everyday but with money being at a low point I scoured the Argos website looking for something that was -
The reviews on the website all pretty much gave this Bush bagless upright praise and it was under £30 so I placed a reservation and went on up to my nearest Argos store to collect.
My hubby went into Argos to get the vacuum cleaner and I was surprised when he placed a small box in the boot, I asked him if it was the right one thinking he had been given a pull along type cleaner but he assured me it was.
Getting home I was quite excited yet a little apprehensive to see if this cleaner would actually work so I brought it in and proceeded to unpack it from it small box.
It was here I realised why and how they managed to fit it into a small box.... It needed to be put together. Following the instructions it was pretty easy and I had it done within 15 minutes although there was one screw at the back of the handle that wouldn't go in, but so far this hasn't been a problem as there is one screw holding the bracket in place.
It all felt very child like, almost like a toy as the handle is a hollow plastic tube, but when it is all fixed together it looks great.
The picture above shows the vacuum cleaner in it's true form, it is indeed red with a few dark grey accents, it is aesthetically pleasing on the eye and by no means ugly.
On the front of the cleaner is a little bar which shows long pile carpet and short pile carpet and the slider needs to be adjusted depending on the carpet type you are vacuuming. The carpet in the boys room and on the stairs is all short pile so I keep the slider placed to the left. It works brilliantly on tiles and laminate floor too.
To use it, there is a foot lever which needs to be depressed in order for the bulk of the cleaner to tilt this allows you to vacuum away with ease, the power button is next to this lever and is a little awkward to get to sometimes, but this isn't much of a problem really.
I have found the suction to be excellent and it really picks up well, as it is bagless there is a bin attached to the front which, like a Dyson, allows you to see how much it has picked up, I find that it needs emptying quite frequently as it isn't very big plus it looks unattractive anyway. It will hold 2.5 liters.
To empty it, you simply push in the clip at the top and the tank comes away, to replace you simply pop it on until it clicks.
There is a pipe that runs around the back of the vacuum cleaner, the nozzle of which slots into a hole on the side of the head of the cleaner but this is also removable. I find this excellent for the stairs and for running along the skirting boards. It comes with a pipe extension bar and a square brush and nozzle making it all that more useful.
It is quite lightweight and I have no difficulty in taking this up and down the three floors of my house, it has a handy bracket on the back which holds the pipe in place but also doubles as a carry handle.
I have owned this now for approximately 4 months and it gets used everyday, I have experienced no problems with it other than the pipe getting a little clogged but that was my fault for vacuuming the new stairs carpet before picking up any remaining clumps.
The wire winds up around two pegs on the side and it is an ample length of 7meters.
The blurb I have found describes it as this ~
