I bought this handy little portable vacuum to clean my car as my normal vacuum cleaner won't reach due to the position of the driveway being too far away from the house, and it is just too much effort to get the extension lead out. I bought it about two years ago from an on line catalogue and think I paid around £40 however you can currently buy them from Amazon for around £30 which is good as the full retail price is around twice this amount.
The vacuum itself is red and silver and measures 15.8cm x 43.1cm x 12.1 cm, is 12 volts and weighs 2.1 kilograms. This weight is comfortable for me to hold but I would say that it could be a bit heavy for an older person or someone who has problems with their wrist such as arthritis. The chunky handle is black and has ridges for a secure grip and my hand fits around it comfortably. The power switch is on the handle and is easy to turn on and off whilst the vacuum is in your hand. It comes with a charger which you mount onto the wall and the vacuum fits into this by three pegs which fit into holes in the vacuum. It also has a motorised turbo brush which rotates, a furniture brush, an anti-odour filter and a crevice tool which is good for getting in between small gaps and into corners. These tools fit into the canister unit so it all tidies away neatly and you always know where they are for when you need them.
It needs to be charged for fifteen hours for the first charge and then can be used for up to eighteen minutes which is plenty for me to clean the car. Apparently the inside has something called Microban which is antibacterial which is helpful if you or your family suffer from any allergies. The filter goes inside the canister which clips onto the motor and is easily unclipped for you to slide the filter out to dispose of the waste. The dust container can hold 0.7 litres which I find is usually enough for one use for me. The suction is quite powerful for such a small vacuum and I find that it easily sucks up the crumbs (from eating my breakfast on the way to work tut tut), and bits of grit and general muck which I have trodden onto the mats.
As the end nozzle is small, as is the whole thing it wouldn't really be suitable for cleaning a whole house, however I have occasionally given the stairs a quick once over after using it in the car as there is usually some power left in it. I would also say that it would be suitable if you have a pet and like to get rid of hairs quickly and easily without getting your household vacuum out.
It has a one year manufacturers guarantee which has obviously expired, but I have had no problems with it whatsoever and it is not showing any signs of wear and tear. I definiltely recommend this as a handy little gadget for a quick spruce up of your car or other small areas as it is portable and extremely powerful.
