I thought the DC 08 was good, until I tried this Dyson. (Dyson Ball DC25)

Advantages: Geat suction that really cleans the carpet

I was quite happy with my trusty old DC08 for my regular (or maybe not as regular as they should be) hoovering sessions, until I won the latest DC25 in a competition.

I hurried home with my new prize and unpacked it instantly. The instructions of how to assemble (3 pieces) were very easy to follow and I quickly had the vacuum in one piece ready to switch on.

It comes with 2 attachments, one for the stairs and one for curtains (I think!), which fit neatly into the back of the unit so you don't have to spend ages hunting them down when you need them.

The cord is quite long, I can do the whole of the downstairs without having to change sockets and then transfer to upstairs, so no delays there. It's quite light (7.5kg) so when you do need to carry it up and downstairs it's really quite easy.

When I switched it on I started to handle it in the way I would a normal vacuum, it took me a while to get used to it twisting and titling, but it didn't take long. It's so easy to handle and you can get around really quickly because you don't have any of this backwards and forwards work to do.

It's easy to use on the stairs too. you can leave the main unit at the bottom of the stairs and the telescopic hose reaches right to the top step. Using the stair attachment really helps and allows you to get into all of the little nooks and crannies.

I though my previous DC08 was good, but I'm embarassed to say that this vacuum was nearly full from one trip around the house on it's first outing! Either the DC08 isn't as good as I thought, or this is an amazing hoover!

It's really easy to empty/ clean. Just press a button and the cyclinder comes out, then press a different one over the bin and the bottom opens and the dirt comes out. You can also remove the brushes to clean those to remove any hairs / cotton etc that might be stuck.

I would highly recommend investing in this product, it's easy to use, light, convenient and has been well thought through.
