Advantages: it works
Disadvantages: price
Well, everyone seems pretty pleased with their dysons, and yes, I agree, its better than most of the vacuum cleaners around. In fact, we used to get through about one every two years, and Dyson had beaten the contemporary record, and is about three years old. It sucks, it does not need a bag, and it looks fairly cool, except everyone has one. Now, the price is hefty, but a lot of that is down to the chain electrical retailers. There are now newer models out, and it is possible to get a DC01 for about £160 by shopping around. Avoid chains like Curry's or Comets except for the spares. Don't get involved in any of the interest free credit offers, as they are really geared up to trying to get you to miss the deadline for final payment, and then there can be a hefty penalty. My major gripe is the drive belt. Ours breaks about once every six months. It is only a small job to fix, but its a pain that it goes at all. It does not love shake and vac. Our cyclinder seems to become besmeared with this stuff, and it makes cleaning it out a bit of a pain. Would I buy another? Well, I hope this one will last, and there are no signs of premature expiry at the moment. I would by another Dyson. Whether it would be a complex one I dont know.

- 24/05/01 Do they have a model that washes carpets, if they don't then I'm sticking with Vax, not a bad opinion though. :-)
