Advantages: Pretty, Powerful

Disadvantages: Plastic, Expensive, Emptying canister is dirty

I was looking for a new vacuum cleaner and I had heard conflicting reports on Dysons. There seemed to be little middle ground between those who loved and despised them. A friend already had a DC02 so I asked if I could borrow it for a few days.

On first impressions, it seemed quite plasticky. I tried emptying the canister and it was quite difficult to do without getting sprinkled in dust.

It worked reasonably well in a vacuum cleaner sort of way, but my wife wasn't impressed. She had a used Numatic Henry's when she worked at a Youth Hostel and wanted one of those instead. I was happy to go along with her as they are around about half the price. I had also read a lot less from people who were dissatisfied with them on newsgroups like http://www.newsgate.co.uk/uk/uk.d-i-y/

Um, sorry for a NU but there isn't much at all about the cleaner here - what about the fact that it's bag-less but needs two filters? What about the suction power, the attachments, the reliability? There's a lot that could be said about it.

You seem to have written more on the fact that you got a henry instead, and what other people are saying about the Dyson. That isn't much use in my opinion.

If you expand this a bit let me know and I'll re-read and re-rate. :-)

I've heard that Henry is a good cleaner, and at half the price of a Dyson I think it gets my vote.
