As a child I was forever bent over hoovering the carpets as part of my chores and I learned to loathe the compact hoover. I’d used other uprights but always ended up using the nozzle as they were ineffective on animal hairs and very dirty carpets. Until I got my Dyson.

I zoom round on it every day and it’s superb on cats hairs and really mucky carpets. There is very little resistance when you push it you can add the attachments for settees and those hard to reach places. Infact the only problem I’ve found with it is that it doesn’t pick up large (bigger than a pea) items they just sort of end up getting pushed around.

It empties easily, just push the clip, remove the bucket and throw away the dust and dirt…simple! No bags, no fuss, no mess. To use it just push the start button, put your foot on the front and pull it back. Because there is no foot button to push to angle it you don’t have the problem of it breaking with age, your upright will stay upright.

It has the normal belt that needs replacing from time to time but that is easy and a space comes supplied with the Dyson when you buy it. There is also a filter that needs replacing after so many uses but that is very easy to do as well. If you have a bad back it is high enough so you don’t have to lean over, I’ve found this a god send on days when my back is playing up. It brags that because there is no bad that it doesn’t ever loose suction power, (although I must point out by it’s own admission it doesn’t start with as much power as an empty bag), and I’d have to agree. Even when mostly full it works very well. Thumbs up for Dyson.
