Advantages: great suction removes loads of unseen dust/dirt

Disadvantages: makes you feel grubby!!!

Having owned an old upright 'hoover' for many years and being fed up of getting down on hands and knees with a damp cloth to get up cat hair, i decided to go for a dyson, all the benefits of a kirby cleaner without the horrendous expense!

Within hours of opening the box and putting it together i was obsessed with my new dyson.

It is lighter than my old model (it was about 15 years old) and easier to empty although required emptying more often! I was horrified about the state of my house. After vaccing one room i had to empty the canister, i hoovered the beds, pillows, duvets almost anything with fabric on!

I was amazed at the amount of cat hair i removed also and at how dirty the house seemed to be. The carpets had only been down for a year and from the amount vacced from them you would have thought ten.

Just goes to show all the hype about dysons is true, they really do work!

I am very sceptical about Dysons, after all I sell them, but only because customers come in, demand a Dyson, pay and then leave. If people ask my opinion, I give it to them. I will admit that Dyson as a company have done very well and used marketing as an excellent ploy of getting market share. They now have over 65% of the upright vacuum cleaner market. As we sell all the filters etc for Dyson vacuum cleaners I would say that at least 40 or 50% of people say that they would never buy another Dyson again, but it is one of those products that you either love or hate.

Almost any new vacuum cleaner will be better than your old one and I would suggest going to a local independent electrical store when considering buying a new cleaner as large 'shed' style electrical retailers will sell you a Dyson because they are paid on commision and , as a rule, they are expensive.
