Suction? What suction? (Dyson DC03)

Well we have the DC03 and for the first few months it was great! The suction was wonderful, it looked good and it's nice and light. Now 3 years down the line it's a big disappointment. The suction is just about bearable, it looks awful but thankfully it's still nice and light!

It might be the amount of dust we have in the house, as there have been various building projects going on which produce loads of dust and unfortunately it just can't keep up. I seem to have to clean the filter about once every 2 weeks which is very inconvienient Getting the filter out and in is also very difficult and it's amazing I haven't broken it trying to wiggle it back in place. Also the clip to empty the "dust bag" is also very awquard to undo and I always end up with a sore thumb.

The poor thing doesn't look good any more with the number of broken pieces on it. It may just be me but it seems that now-a-days things just aren't made to last. Handle covers have fallen off, and bits of plastic have snapped off...and this is just from normal family handling, I'm not one to throw it around the room!

We brought this dyson because of the claim that it will help asthmatics because of the filter. That's all well and good except for the fact that it seems to affect the suction which doesn't help us as half the dust is left behind!

Personally I wouldn't recommend this to anyone now we've had it a while, and when we can afford to buy another vaccum I'll be very wary of purchasing another Dyson. This was supposed to be one of our big purchases when we brought our new house firstly for the lightness as we had three floors and I'll for that I give it the thumbs up...but for everything else, I'm sorry it gets a big thumbs down.
