Advantages: great pick up, can do carpets and hard floors, you can see all the dirt that's been picked up

Disadvantages: long hair gets caught in brushes

Three years ago I got two cats - one black and one black-with-a-bit-of-white. I had a laminate floor in my living room and pale carpets in the rest of the house. I knew that black cats and pale carpets were not a good combo but I was not prepared for the drifts of hair that seemed to collect in seconds around the edge of the laminate floor.
After having the cats for a couple weeks I realised my old vacuum was not up to the job and I was sick of sweeping the laminate... so I invested in a Dyson DC04 Zorbster!

It was expensive, and still is at around £270, but it has been worth it. It really is an excellent machine, as well as the fab Dyson 'no loss of suction' there are no bags to change and buy, it copes equally well with carpet and hard floors, the tools cover pretty much everything you might need to do and best of all (IMHO) you can see all the dirt and hair and general ick being sucked up and wizzed around!

As well as using it like a normal upright there are 4 tools included to allow you to do other tasks; a crevice tool, stair/upholstry tool, a round brush (that I use for dusting surfaces) and the floortool. The floortool lets you use the dyson as you would a cylinder vac and it has little wheels so it's easy to move around on hard floors or carpets. There is a button on the hose that allows you to reduce the suction for cleaning curtains and delicate items.

As well as these tools there is the zorb carpet dry cleaning system. There is a special powder that you put in a hopper attachment which fits to the front of the vacuum, the powder is dipensed and groomed into the carpet by the vacuum and then after 30mins you vacuum the powder up. It doesn't remove bad stains (but does come with a spot cleaner for them) but does keep carpets looking clean and certainly restored the brightness to an old rug I cleaned.

Everything is easy to use - the hose and bin come out and go back quickly and easily, it's also qui
ck and easy to check for blockages and the lifetime filter is easy to wash and replace.

I've used the zorbster hundreds of times since I got it, even for cleaning up plaster dust after DIY and it is still going strong even if it is a little battered.

The only disadvantages I've come across are that it is quite heavy to carry upstairs (but this does also mean you don't pull it over when using the hose) and that my hair gets wrapped around the brush - but 2 mins with a pair of scissors sorts it.

To conclude... I love my zorbster and it really did live up to my expectations. I still have the cats who seem to have an unnatural attraction to my new cream carpet - but the dyson deals with the mountains of fur they leave behind.

In short, I would recommend dyson to anyone. (in fact I often do!)

Welcome to dooyoo with a good review. I have a DC04 which doesn't pick up the white dog hairs. It sounds as if yours is a more up to date version though. I like the idea of the cleaning powder attachment.

I could do with one of these. I've got a dog and her hair gets everywhere!

I have a short haired Jack Russell so I know about the hair problem, I have the Dyson Animal.
