I have owned my Dyson DC04 for nearly five years now and can safely say I doubt I will ever buy another brand now.

The Dyson vacuum cleaner works using different technology - dual cyclone to be precise - which increases suction and is therefore a more efficient cleaner.

Over the years I have owned several brands of vacuum cleaner and each and every one has disappointed me. In fact it was this disappointment that finally made me decide to spend the money and buy a Dyson as I was tired of being let down by other brands.

I have not been disappointed with my Dyson DC04 - it is a very easy to use machine that also offers some great flexibility when cleaning.

Like all Dyson vacuum cleaners, the DC04 is bagless. I was a little unsure of this design feature when it first came out but am a complete convert now. I find it swift and easy to empty my machine, something I never found when changing bags. Cleaning filters is easy too - they are made of sponge and clean out quickly and easily and are dry if left overnight.

The DC04 has very efficient brush bars which really do pick up an amazing amount of hairs over time, in addition to the amazing suction power of the machine.

What I love the most about the DC04 is its flexibility when cleaning. It is so easy to use the tools - you just pull out the hose and add on whatever tool you want to use - all of which are close to hand in their allocated spaces on the machine.

Cleaning stairs is a doddle because the hose extends so far known as "telescopic reach" - I have never had a machine prior to this one which coped so well with stairs - something I need in my current home!

You can also easily clean fabrics, sofas and other more delicate items using this machine - there is a soft brush tool that easily cleans them.

The only disadvantage of this machine is the fact it is quite heavy and as I get older I find that a bit of a problem. I understand newer models have addressed this issue however. I must also admit that the machine is also really rather noisy.

I also must mention Dyson's aftercare service. They have an incredibly good website where you can troubleshoot any problem you are having.

For example, my machine stopped working a few months ago and I addressed this website in something of a panic. Fortunately for me, the excellent troubleshooter informed me that my filters were probably dirty and the machine had overheated and then cut out. So I cleaned the filters and just as they said, the machine was fine again.

Likewise, if you need to replace parts of your machine, it is a relatively straightforward process - you can call Dyson up and purchase these parts easily and then replace them yourself. I had to do this when my extension hose ripped (sadly out of warranty) and I had a replacement within 3 days of calling them.

I intend to try to continue using my Dyson until it gives up the ghost and then I will definitely buy another one - as far as I am concerned its the only brand to consider for vacuum cleaners.
