We have just purchased a Dyson DC04 from intersaver.co.uk , the buying process was excellent and I have already written an Opinion accordingly in this regard.

October 2nd

However , after only 3 weeks the Dyson has broken down.

So far it has taken 4 calls to the service line to actually get through to someone who said they needed the serial number as proof of ownership. As we phoned from work , we were unable to get immediate access.

October 4th

Now that we have this information , we have been unable to get through again to Dyson serviceline.

October 5th

We will up date this Opinion as time progresses to let you know how Dyson copes with a broken machine.This should be interesting since they claim to offer excellent Customer Service and to get your Vacuum Cleaner up and running in 3 Days , so lets just see !!!

October 6th

Finally got through to someone , very helpful , talked us through fixing part of the problem (they said it was a very common problem with the Dyson DC04 - why not fix it before sending them out ?). Additionally , Engineer promised for next Thursday , hopefully by then I should be able to report good news.

October 12th

Engineer didn't turn up - Reason , petrol crisis. Transpires they are still clearing a backlog of problems from the period including the Petrol Shortage. Two downsides here , one that they have yet to catch up suggesting major faults with Dyson's , the second is surely they knew about this when booking in to fix it on 12th. Another appointment booked for 17th October , will update you next weekend (hopefully with a fully operational Dyson - house starting to look messy)

October 19th

Engineer once again failed to turn up. When we phoned up repsonse was he couldn't find us on the map. Do we live in a brand new house - no , do we live in the middle of the country - no , we live in Kidder
minster , the carpet Capital of the World. Cannot call again until first week in November which will be a month since the Dyson broke , well outside their promised 3/4 days promise to fix. We are taking the issue up with more senior staff , I strongly urge people on the basis of the customer support we have received , NOT TO BUY A DYSON.

October 31st

I am very pleased to Report that the Dyson engineer arrived yesterday and fixed our machine. The Sheard household is once again Clean (Cleanish).


As the quality of the cleaner when working is very high and it has been fixed at last , I am prepared to once again up grade my rating here


March 21st 2001

I am delighted to confirm that we have had no further problems at all with the Dyson. Our house is cleaner than ever and can thus report we are another very satisfied owner.

Past troubles well behind us , I have now fully upgraded my rating of the Dyson to excellent !

What actually broke? We've had a DC01 for about 4 years that now needs replacing and were thinking about buying a DC04 but....

Nooooooooooo, I really want a Dyson, and now I will have to think again! I cannot stand bad customer service, I get on my high horse and demand compensation and surprisingly it always work (I always tell them what I want e.g "I would like my delivery charge back - which I ask for if things don't turn up when they're supposed to)

You're really not having a lot of luck huh! Hope it gets fixed soon, I've never had any probs with mine but that's mechanical gadgets for ya. Great for one person and a nightmare for the next.
