Advantages: Bagless, powerful, tools
Disadvantages: Heavy, no grood on hard floors
I had a succession of 'Hoover' vacuum cleaners for years, before Dyson came on the scene in fact, and was always happy with them. But that was until I tried a Dyson. The cleaning power was different class. That was a Dyson DC01.
After many years of great service, that one was relegated to garage duties and I got a DC04. It really was a step up. Even better cleaning if that was possible, with some real powerful suction.
The tools are better too, more flexible. With the DC04 you can detach the rigid 'pole' extension from the hose and attach the tools directly to the hose. This makes it easier to use in tight spaces, like the car, than its predecessor, where the hose and pole were all in one.
The only thing that was a step back from the DC01 was that the DC04 is rubbish with hard floors, great on carpets, but forget laminates etc. Emptying is a breeze with a little 'trigger' which releases a 'trapdoor' mechanism at the bottom of the dust cylinder, so no mess either.
As long as you're ok with the funky colours and weight - this machine is no lightweight - then this is a great bit of kit.
Summary: Soft flooors good, hard floors bad

A good start here. If I was to buy this I'd like some more info such as:
Actual weight
Noisy?
G ets under low furniture well or struggles?
Filtratio n
Emptying it - easy or difficult?
Add ing info could inform buyers better although it is optional. If you update your review or need help please msg me.

PS My DC01 had a removable handle and main steel pipe- it came with an adaptor where you could attach the tools onto the flexible hose. |
