i have a very busy household with children and pets so have been through a few vacumes but have now stuck with dyson it is the best i have ever used has no problems with pet hair and crushed up biscuits . it also comes with a long hose and attachments for stairs and hard to reach corners the hose when stretched out is aprox 17 feet long so more than enough to vac a flight of stairs with ease .
the vacume is very easy to empty just press a button to remove the canister on the front and pull up a pull and every thing is emptied out of the bottom then just slot back on to the vac easy !! with the canister been clear you can easily tell when it needs to be emptied
the dust filters are also easily removed for washing which i do every 3 months .
i have had my dyson for 2 years and still working just as well as the day i bought it no problems with it all .
the bad points i have found with this vac is that it is a bit heavy so not very easy if you have lots of stairs it weighs 4.85 kg
it is also a very loud vacum but i got used to it and great for getting people out of bed in the morning lol
its suction is very powerfull and if you have light rugs on the floor or it goes to close a sofa throw ect it will suck it off the floor we have several times had to get socks ect out as well
finally it is a little more expensive then most vacums but is worth every penny last time i looked around £180 but you are getting a very impresive vac for this money that will last you a long long time and save you money because you are not buying bags
