Advantages: Powerfull and works without too much cost
Disadvantages: Heavy and big
This is our main hoover used regularly for several years. After using bag and wet dry vacs for a long time the switch to dyson was a step I should have done a long time ago. The power is constant even when the see through drum is full.
Its pretty heavy to move around up and down the stairs but it appears to be power assisted when you are using it across the floors. The suction is goes to near the edges of the head but not quite so doing the edges normally requires the use of the hose.
The hose can be annoying at times but nothing that bad, because of the suction it wants to pull the handle/tool back into the machine so using it at the top of the stairs the machine is trying to climb up as well.
We had it serviced by dyson a few months ago for the fixed fee and it given it a new lease of life, even more suction and the filters are working so much better.
I like the feature of the collection chamber that it can be removed taken to the bin and emptied via a button, no messy bags flying and causing tons of dust.
The long lasting filters work very well take a while to clean well but work well again after. The general day to day running costs are near non existent.
There is a small breeze around the brush head that can cause you problems on smooth surfaces, blowing away bits before you get them but i think thats just an old seal giving up on ours.
The plastic drum is now very scratched up after years of use, but its not affecting the working.
Summary: Worth the extra money and powerful
