You can’t be enthusiastic about a vacuum cleaner can you? Now, come on, I’m not a train-spotter and I don’t even own an anorak, so why write a review of the Dyson DC04?

To tell you the truth, I really hate vacuum cleaners; they make a horrid whining noise and you have to lift your feet up to let the wife vacuum under them… but the Dyson DC04 has actually got me at the controls, pushing it around and getting others in the family to lift their feet for me!

I have owned a few vacuum cleaners in my time, and have never found such an efficient machine. A friend recommended that we get one, and reluctantly I capitulated and parted with the cash.

To test it properly, I insisted that we vacuum the office thoroughly with the old vac. The carpet looked fine, so then we started with the Dyson. Miraculously, the transparent receiver filled up, time after time with dust, dog hair and fine grit that the other machine had left behind.

We have some old rugs, and I was worried that a vacuum cleaner with such power would pull out all the tufts - the Dyson doesn’t; it just gets the dust out.

With the built-in hose and tools, even vacuuming cobwebs off the ceiling and getting crumbs off the furniture is a doddle.

The hose is long enough to reach up the stairs, which is a bonus as we have three staircases in our house!

Overall, this is a well-designed bit of kit, and at the risk of being called an anorak; I would recommend it to anyone, but don't tell my friends - they will really tease me about it so, by writing this review I'm really Dyson with Death!
