You haven't vacced until you've used a Dyson!
What can be said about the Dyson? It's simply a genius cleaning machine. Forget vacumn bags, dusty mess when you change them, hauling a heavy cleaner up the stairs and trying to balance it on one step while you vac another. The Dyson has everything to make your life much easier.
Firstly it's appearance might put you off. It looks like something a 5-year old would build out of lego (something I probably did myself). In bright yellow and grey or purple and lime (like mine) it's a bit of a monster to look at. But is that important? Not really. The function of the thing is what counts. That is after all what you'll be spending your money on, a cleaner that does a good job, not something that looks pretty sitting in a cupboard under the stairs.
So, you can adjust the cleaning head to have a speedy rotating brush (keep your fingers WELL out of the way of that - ouch!)for carpets or no brush for hard floors. It travels across the floor with ease, while I van the vinyl in the kitchen it does suck quite hard so maybe you could count this as a form of exercise for your arm muscles!
It has the usual 3 attachable tool heads (stair, brush and crevice) and the best thing is the pipe fits snugly into the back of the Dyson. You press a button to release it, pull it out and then pull the tube to the bottom where again it clicks into place. Simply attach your tool head and you're away. Then you can leave the Dyson where it is and whisk off round the room cleaning all the corners and skirting boards. When you do the stairs you leave the Dyson at the bottom and just walk on up. No more carrying the thing as you go. Excellent. So much easier and it makes the job so much quicker.
The Dyson has immense suction power and is incredible, hold on tight, although it glides across carpets with ease. It's heavyish but not too bad. I can run up the stairs with it quite easily and I'm a slim built 5'7"
female. But I do work out at the gym so maybe I'm stronger than I thought! However, it's certainly no heavier than any other vac I've used. Just a damn sight better. It's a bit noisy too but again, no noisier than any other vac I've used.
Some models have a HEPA filter which again means you don't have to worry about changing filters constantly. Some also have a bacteria filter which kills bacteria on impact. I went for this option. It costs a bit more but it gives you added peace of mind that when you've just vacumned your floor it really is clean. The other added bonus is the drum itself. All you do is unclip it, take it off and empty it straight into the bin. YOu can then rinse it out to keep it clean. Ingenious. It's not particarly pleasant looking at the grime you've just pulled out of your carpets but better it be in the drum than still in your carpet!
If you thought your previous vac was good, go over your carpet again with a Dyson. I vacced my carpet on Tuesday. I received my new Dyson on Thursday morning and immediately tried it out. The drum was almost full when I'd finished. Where does it find it all? Many people I know have said the same. The Dyson seems to find muck in your carpet you would never know was there and you think isn't. Vac your bed with it!!! You'll be amazed what it picks up.
I'm totally impressed with mine. A great buy. Not cheap, but there again you get what you pay for and on this occasion I believe my purchase to be value for money.
