Advantages: Powerful, Effective, Sexy!!
Oops you can tell right away that it is going to be a good one can’t you? Let the cat out the bag there? No you never it does not have a bag. That’s right the number of features about this marvel is just fantastic.
Ok on with the opinion, I have the Dyson DC04 and it is yellow and grey. When Tyson and me got it together it happened almost by accident almost 2 years ago. I was lying in my living room and was extremely bored TV was crap and the carpet was looking haggard from the old Electrolux bashing it received daily sometimes twice a day poor thing eventually gave up the ghost!
So I decided it was time to go shopping and paid a visit to our local Scottish Power to see what was on offer. I had just received bonus at work and it was itching to be spent. So I set my self a budget of £150 thinking I would get a great Hoover from that budget, which yes I would have but this wee man was winking at me out the corner of my eye and we hit it of instantly and that was just from his sheer sexy look.
Don’t you think Dyson just look great? I do and my Tyson is a stud!
So I bashfully asked the shop assistant if she could introduce me to him! Certainly she said no problem, this is Dyson DC04 would you like to know what features this item has Mr. Duff? Oh yes please and I went weak at the knees, you all know me when it comes to housework!
No Bag ~
That’s right this beauty comes with no bags that need changing every few days, your Hoover will have a see through barrel on it and it is easy to see when you need to empty it, as it has a clearly marked Max Level Indicator.
When emptying the barrel there is no dust flying all over the house, as it has nothing to stick to with the barrel being plastic it slides straight into a bag or bin. No dust can escape whilst vacuuming d
ue to there being no pores or escape routes for the dust. Perfect for sufferers of Asthma and similar irritable allergies.
Tyson has what they call a 12 month H-Level Pre-Motor Filter, what this is designed to do is prevent dust build up on the motor and therefore keeping the mechanism performing at full power, it is recommended that this is changed every 12 months has 12 month H-Level blah, blah, blah… It will cost you about £10 - £12 to replace depending where you go but I must admit I left mines for 18 months and there was not a major difference on replacement although it was noticeably better.
The next filter that it has is the H-Level electrostatic post-filter now I am not entirely sure what this one is for and to tell you the truth I have looked all over Tyson and can’t place my eye on it?
Now we all have these even my Tyson has his very own, so if I think he may be suffering from a bit of a cold or flu or may just be a wee bit choked up I can easily check the wee man’s airways. That’s right I can open up all the airways and inspect to see what may be choking him up. This is great for when you want to give you vacuum a right good clean out.
The airways are said to be high efficiency and I would vouch for that being true because I have never had a problem with lifting anything up and I tell you I have picked up some bizarre things with the old vacuum eyes not what they used to be, Jasper my parrot almost got it one day, oops!
Dual Cyclone Technology ~
Okay now here goes let me try and explain this part for you? Dual cyclone is designed to prevent any loss of suction and ensure that the vacuum performs to its full potential every time and Tyson being the stud that he is well he performs well on every occasion.
What happens is when the motor runs air is pulled up through the middle of the vacuum in a straight line and also in a swirling moti
on, this is then transported into the barrel area of the vacuum again in a swirling motion ensuring that all dust is pushed to the bottom and away from the filter area. The end results are great!
Adaptive Brush Control ~
Dyson have a patent pending on this part of the mechanism and I think this is why they took Electrolux to court? But don’t quote me on that!
Tyson has a clutch mechanism that allows you turn the brush bar off when vacuuming rugs and smooth floors, the benefit of this feature is that the belt on your Dyson should never need changed, I have never needed to!
There are three positions that me and Tyson can get into they are as follows~
N = Manual Brush Off – For delicate rugs & Floors
P = Brush Off – When upright
D = Auto Brush On – For Normal Cleaning
They are automatic and adjust themselves when necessary no action required from you simple huh?
Safety Features ~
Now if you are a parent this will be of interest, even if you are not this will be of interest to you.
The safety features of this vacuum cleaner are not simple little things they are big features and often not found on other models.
If the brush bar will automatically stop when obstructed and gives a ratchet warning! Never heard it so can’t explain, nothing stops Tyson and me when we get going.
Release valves that will prevent children from hurting themselves from powerful suctions; this is also a patent pending part of the models.
Cable life extender and thermal cut off are another few added safety features.
So that is the features what about the performance and what attachments are available.
Overall Tyson is a great performer I have very few complaints. He can get into all the necessary nooks and crannies and has some powerful attachments to assist him.
Firstly there is the smallest attachment that is great fo
r general cleaning and perfect for sofas and mattresses it has a little velour clothes brush type material at its snout and this great for attracting the fluff and dust.
Next up we have the long nosed snout, which I very rarely use apart from cleaning in the crevices of the sofa and right in at the skirting boards and really hard to reach places, overall this one is probably used the least, Jasper and I prefer to use it as a microphone?
Then we have the hairy little monster, again I don’t really use this one all that much. If I use this it is for the curtains and for picking up fluff of the rug and it is good for in under the radiators in the kitchen and bathroom, perfect for hard surfaces.
Tyson has a detachable hose that extends to about 3 foot and this is great for all forms of vacuuming, for the curtains – no need to stretch, under the sofa and bed – again no stretching the list goes on and on.
So there you have it Tyson the Dyson DC04 is a star performer all round in this household and we are looking forward to our second anniversary all presents will be appreciated. A new filter for Tyson would be nice and a new hat for me!
Have fun and hope you enjoyed reading, one thing I forgot to mention was my Tyson actually made me over spend on my budget I splashed out an extra £70 quid for him but he has made up for that over the years. I am sure that they will not cost all that much now but whatever they are it is money well spent.
