Advantages: Stylish, No need to buy bags or filters, Powerful
Disadvantages: Slightly more expensive than other cleaners.
Having worked in an electrical shop for some time, and having discussed many customers needs, I always seem to end up recommending the Dyson DC04. As the natural progression from the best-selling DC01, it still does everything that has given Dyson it's good name. It's bagless, which is half the selling point in itself, and though it freaks some people out seeing all their dust, many people (my mum included) find it reassuring to know they are doing some good rather that just walking around making noise! It has a good range of attachments for the extremely long hose, which will get to the top of all normal stairs from the bottom. A crevice tool, a brushed attachment and a flat tool come as standard, with a cylinder style flat head on the De Stijl model. Another nice feature on the more recent Dysons is the lifetime filter as standard. You'll never have to buy anything again with a Dyson, except maybe a belt once or twice. Even if you damage part of the cleaner, it is very easy to get spares for a Dyson. The helpline (who's number is stuck on the actual cleaner) will happily send you spare parts, even the full handle and pipe (which my mum has gone through two of on the DC01). All in all, this is a stylish, functional cleaner, which will same you a lot of time and bother in the long run, undoubtedly making it worth the extra you may pay above a bog standard cleaner.
