Up to my ears in filth! (Dyson DC04)

Oh my goodness, I'm lucky to be alive. My house is clearly filled with filth: dead bugs who lived on the flakes of skin that fell off my body!

Well that's pretty much how I felt when I first used Mr Dysons DC04. I carefully unpacked the unit I bought for my mother, and put it together in ten minutes. It was sparkly clean in an 'interesting' purple and green color combination.

Ten minutes later the see through plastic bin was filling up with browny-grey dirt. It is truly disgusting to look at, but my goodness does this thing suck (phnaar, phnaar!).

After vacuuming the house the unit was half full! Emptying the Dyson is easy. You simply uncip the 'bin' and take it outside to your wheely bin. Don't try to empty it into the trash inside because the dust does blow about a bit.

Next time my mum used the Dyson it did not fill nearly as much - it clearly sucks better than her old Electrolux (OK she had a Hoover, but you can't expect me to review a vac without a few Electrolux Sucks remarks!)

The unit is not too heavy and can be carried up and down stairs. The extension pipe and floor tools mean that you can comfortably vac the stairs, but do make sure that the unit is <b>down</b>stairs when you do this to prevent toppling.

An additional advantage of the transparent bin is that you can see inside if you accidently sweep up something that you shouldn't.

This unit does come with a filter, so I thought 'oh yes, no bags but you pay an arm and leg for the filters'. I was wrong. The filter is washable and does not need regular replacement.

Overall this is a great vacuum cleaner, I thoroughly recommend it.
