Advantages: does a whole flight of stairs

Disadvantages: having to fork out for extra bits, heavy and can be difficult to adjust

I have had my dyson for about 2 months from reconditioned and so far I am very pleased with its performance.

Manoeverability:
Once you get used to having to put your foot down on the front and bending the handle backwards it is quite easy to move. The flex is nice and long so you do not have to keep plugging into different sockets to do long rooms

In terms of performance: Strong suction, you only have to go over an area of average soiling to get all of the dirt up. When I first used it I was discusted at how much dirt was in my carpet despite it looking clean. If i had pets I would imaging this is a god send. It is great if you have stubborn dirt. My dining room is the thru room in my house and comes fright off the garden. It is great for keeping on top of this area of heavy traffic. Gets all the garden muck up straight away!

Easy to empty and reassemble. Does a whole flight of stairs top to bottom (13 steps in total)on the hose extension. But you have to have a special attatchment for the stairs. like a rectangular flat attatchment...see more about these later.

Gets into all tight spots, mine came with a nozzle that seems to do edges and nooks and crannies well.

When you hoover up to the wall it gets right along the edge, so you do not have to get on your hands and kness to get dirt along the edges.

Disadvantages
quite a heavy machine, it is a bit awkward to carry it upstairs for instance. So if you have problems with heavy objects then you might want to go for something lighter.

It is quite awkward to put the hose and handle back together. The hanle slots into the hose and it just seems to make it tricky.

Price of the attatchments. If you go on the dyson website expect to pay £20-£30 depending on the type of attatchment. If you go on ebay you can get job lots for attachments at around £10, just be careful that they fit your model. I have seen dyson attachments at the market but even these were £5 upwards a go! I had a brainwave and put the attachments from my old hoover on. I can get the stair attchment and a brush to fit.
Dyson sell lots of lovely gadgets like a dusting brush to do books with! I haved found that I have not missed these. I would only go to town on the attachments if I lived in a huge house.

I got my dyson from ebay, reconditioned for £50 plus delivery.
