I've had my Dyson DC04 for almost four years now. And so far it's been very loyal and served me well. I only hope it doesn't break down as soon as I finish this review- that's what I usually find happens when you start bragging about your gadgets!

Anyway back to what I was saying, in the entire time i've owned my vacuum, I can only remember two occasions when I experienced a slight glitch with it. Both times it was my use-less hubby's fault and could of been easily avoided. The first time was when he vacuumed over a some sharp matter on the floor that snapped the belt. This I simply solved by replacing it with another belt that I bought for three pounds from a local DIY store.

I must however mention that although I fitted the belt in very easily by following the instructions in the dyson manual, not everyone may be capable of doing this. (And before you ask- No I don't have a very large head) Fitting the belt can get very tricky and frustrating. Therefore if you ever need to under-take this task, make sure you are calm and have plenty of time on your hands.

The second time, well, my husband did the same thing again so just read the above. And now I don't let him touch the vacuum any more!

The only time I do let my other-half touch the Dyson is when he carries it up the stairs for me or brings it down. This is because it's a little too heavy for me to carry and that's the only negative aspect of the vacuum I can think of.

Overall it's one of the best appliances i've purchased. It can suck out unseen dirt from the carpet with no effort what-so-ever. I also use it on my laminate floors and it works just as well. And as for the stairs, I just leave vacuum at the bottom and the flexible pipe easily reaches right to the 13th step.

I purchased it from Comet for 174 pounds and it was money well spent.
