Advantages: Brilliant Cleaner
My dad has one of these Dyson cleaners at his house and we go over every week to do his house work for him as he is 87 and is unable to do it himself any more. He bought one of these when his old cleaner went wrong as, in his words, I don't want to have to buy another one.
The cleaner is very heavy to lift but it feels really stocky and solid. The colours on it are grey and a nice bright green. It has the handle which comes up for you to move it about and it has a nice loopy bit on the top which is very comfortable to use. You get a lot of tools with the cleaner which all fit into the back of it so they are easy to store and always at hand to use.
My Dad has carpeting in his house right through, even in the kitchen so we can use this as it is on all the surfaces. The suction when you switch it on is very impressive, you can really feel the power of it sucking at the carpet and you can't think that anything would stand a chance of not being sucked up. As we only get over once a week to be able to do it for him there is usually quite a bit to hoover up around the place so it gets a good work out each week. The cleaner goes right up the to wall and it gets the dirt from most of the edges, those that it misses it is easy to attach one of the tools and get the rest up like may be in the corners.
The tools that come with it are really good, you can take the hose out from its housing so its more like a pull along cylinder cleaner and then fit the attachment on the end. I have used the little brush that comes with it for getting cob webs off of the corners of the ceiling where we would not usually be able to reach. You can also fit a long think plastic tube which is flattened at one end so this is good for doing down the sides of the cooker and fridge and places where you need to reach in small places.
The cleaner is really easy to empty once you get the hang of how to get the container off and back on again. It all just clicks into place and to get it out you just press the buttons and they are clear to see what to press. You don't need to worry about having bags or anything to change, the dirt goes straight into the container and then into the bin.
My Other Half always borrows the cleaner while we are there to hoover out his car, my Dad has a big drive so he can park near by and the wire on the cleaner is very long, much longer than I have had on one before so he doesn't need to use an extension lead to be able to use it outside.
The only downfall with this cleaner is that it is very heavy and both my Dad and I are unable to lift it up the stairs although my Other Half usually gives the stairs a clean while we are over there. As for upstairs, well Dad bought himself another cleaner to keep upstairs. He has bought the same make but the yellow one so that will be another review.
I don't know if you can still buy these cleaners as they now have the ball technology ones out but I think he paid about £170 for it new a few years ago now.
