Ah-Ha! The Housewife returns! In a fit of absolute despair following the destruction meted out to Chez dave27 by those dratted dave27-ettes and ashamed by the increasing piles of dust accumulating everywhere, Mrs D set out on a quest to secure the perfect cleaning implement. Now read on... I've just had delivery of my new Dyson DC05 - what a machine! I thought my old DC01 was good but this is quite simply the best. I was so impressed with the DC01 when I got it previously that I was a total addict for the brand. However, after the kids had dropped it down the stairs (several times), the wheels fell off (for the fourteenth time) and then it finally died, losing its suck forever (hard luck dave27), I finally admitted that it might be time to replace the old retainer. I knew with an instinctive flash that I just had to get another Dyson, nothing else could cater for our needs, having two dogs, two kids and asthma, I had to get another Dyson, there was no way I was choosing any other brand. The DC01 was good, but being an upright it was quite heavy and after all I am only 5ft nothing (and 22 feet across - dave27), so I thought I'd try a cylinder. Prior to the upright I had always had a cylinder anyway. I have no hesitation in declaring that the DC05 is brilliant, totally brilliant (in a machinely and non-human way, of course, I've not gone absolutely off my head yet, though the dave27-ettes do their best). It's purple and lime (no accounting for taste, but you can pass it off as a very unique objet d'art if you wish) and has a turbo head. The turbo head is very useful for pet hairs so this model was an absolute must. It also has a special filter for the dust which is essential for my asthma. There is a special attachment for the tools so everywhere you go the tools go with you too. There is also an automatic rewind for the flex and a host of other neat touches. Being a c
ylinder, the brush head cleans right up to the skirting board, under the radiators and into the awkward spaces like the wardrobes (and dave27's navel at a real push, though his wallet is beyond it), something my previous Dyson didn't due to the fact that it was an upright. It's just incredible you're able to reach into really difficult places, it's light, simple to use and sucks up the most amazing amount of dust. (Little things please little minds - dave27) The only drawback was the price! But thanks to this very wonderful opinion site, I was able to look at other people's opinions before spending our money and found this very valuable indeed as I was able to compare prices and managed to find a really good retailer who offered a price of £214 instead of the high street price (i.e. Currys, Comet etc) and delivery was free. Much to dave27's disgust (he's a tight old git), I ordered the Dyson on his MasterCard. Ouch! I asked when delivery would be and it arrived the very next day, before 9am! So thanks very much Benfleet, I was totally amazed by the excellent service. Other sites offered cheaper prices but delivery was as and when, not next day. In fact, on some of the sites a fee of £30 plus was payable for next day delivery!
