Advantages: Cleans well, Small, Light

Disadvantages: Price

When we bought this product a few weeks ago, we immediately took it home to try it out. If we'd had guests in, we would have been thoroughly ashamed! The muck and dust it pulled out of our carpets meant we had to empty the vacuum 3 times in the space of one 3-bedroom house!!! A week later, we re-did the front room, and filled it up again!

>>> What is it?

By now most people know that the Dyson range of Vacuum cleaners use a dual-cyclone technology, to "spin" the dust into the waste bin. In fact a new range is on the way, which has ten cyclones! I'd hate to see the price tag on that one?

They offer both upright and hose-based models. The DC05 range is based on floor/hose units (As per the DooYoo product photo.)

>>> What does it cost?

There are 4 products?

* Basic - What a cruel term for such a piece of technology. This comes with no added bells and whistles, but is still a fine machine. Price approx. £230.

* TurboBrush - Adds a large head to the hose, which has a spinning brush, much like an upright. A valuable addition for good carpet cleaning. Price approx. £240.

* Absolute + TurboBrush - As per the TurboBrush, but has an added "Hepa filter" which is meant to keep even more dust from escaping the vacuum/cyclone, and is meant to be excellent for Asthmatics and other allergy sufferers (I fall into this category.) Price approx. £260, but we found it discounted to £228!

* Top-of the range. - This model adds fingertip control and probably more, but pushes the price to a massive £330.

>>> Any good?

Oh yes, I think another OP here said, "You haven't vacuumed until you've used a Dyson" That is completely true. I was massively reluctant to part with in excess of £200 - In fact I only did it in order to gain leverage on the purchase of a new television :-) On the other hand, I can now confirm that the Dyson advertising is completely
honest.

Nice features:

* No messy bag.
* A tool holder integrated into the hose for the alternative heads.
* Telescopic hose can be shortened for storage or small spaces.
* It can perch safely on stairs, so easier to clean stairways.
* Very powerful suction.
* Oh, and they clean like a vacuum should.

I've just got an old DC01 but it still sucks as good as new. Great cleaners - Kay

I know, doesn't it make you feel disgusted when all that muck comes out of what you thought was a pristine carpet!
