It is now almost exactly a year since we brought our Dyson DC05 vacuum cleaner. We got it just before Christmas last year and it is great. We had chosen to get one of these after a recommendation from a friend who had recently brought one. We went to argos to buy it, but they are also available from many other electrical shops and even some supermarkets sell them. There were a number of different ones to choose from. They have upright vacuums and ones in various colours, but we decided on the dyson DC05 because it would be easy to move around and for doing the stairs. It cost £199 and it is grey and yellow. As you would expect, it comes in a very big box with a picture of the dyson on it. On the box and on the information booklet included inside it tells you about the features of the dyson DC05. These are

and you only nees to attach the pipes as it is all ready made up.

It is really easy to move around the house with it and it even rests easily on the stairs. The main pipe on the dyson is extendable which makes it easy for tall and small people alike to use this vacuum. Unlike other vacuum cleaners that you can buy all the extra little brushes and tools are attached to the vacuum cleaner pipe so you won’t lose anything.These extra attachments that you get with the dyson make it easy to vac in corners, around skirting boards, furniture and the stairs.

The front of the vacuum cleaner has a clear cylinder where all the dust and rubbish that is sucked up is collected. Before we got our dyson we had a vax and thought that it did quite a goo
d job, we had 2 cats and would vacuum our house every other day and thought it looked clean, but when we used our new dyson for the first time we could not believe how much cat fur and dust it had collected. The suction on the dyson is excellent, I am sure it can suck down to the floor boards underneath it is that strong.

The dyson is light and easy to carry, it has a long extendable lead so even if you have a long room to clean you shouldn’t have to keep stopping to change which plug socket you use. I have also used it to vacuum my car, the carpets in the car have never been so clean.

The cylinder on the front means that you never have to change a bag again. It is very easy to empty by just unclipping the cylinder and emptying it into the dustbin. There is a washable filter inside too which needs to be cleaned every six months. I did this earlier in the year. It is easy to remove, it is just a circular blue piece of sponge. It looked quite brown and dull when I first removed it, but after rinsing under cold running water for a few minutes it turned out to be a lovely clean blue colour. It then needs to be left to dry for 24 hours before putting it back into the vacuum, and it doesn’t need to be done for another 6 months. The dyson also comes with a little sticker next to the washable filter with the months of the year on it, you can then circle which month you last cleaned it and this makes it easy for you to remember when it needs doing again. The dyson makes about the same amount of noise as my last vacuum cleaner and don't think you will ever find a quiet one.

I would recommend this vacuum cleaner to other people. It does all the things that it claims to do. You may think that your current vacuum is doing the job nicely, just as we did, but after experiencing the
extra suction that a dyson has you won’t want to be using anything else. It is a little bit pricey, but I think its worth it.
