We've had this DC05 for about 6 years now.The suction is great, but the cable rewind mechanism is useless, it was replaced 3 times under warranty and once since the warranty expired at our own cost, it only lasts about 3-4 momths, then it doesn't work any more. We're sick of replacing the mechanism , we have to push the cable in by hand, it's a pity Dyson couldn't put a bit of R&D into cable rewind, even the cheapest vacuum cleaners have functioning cable rewind mechanisms.

I have had my dyson for 9years and I still love it even though it has a few glitches! When we bought this it was about £150.00 which I thought was a lot of money at the time but had heard they were great - I haven't been disappointed, I know people who have gone through 2 hoovers in that time. Firstly it's compact ... Read the complete review

We bought our DC05 as a second-hand refurbished model, and would never have considered spending the money to buy a brand-new one. After the experience of the DC05, though, I would absolutely consider buying new when this one dies - we absolutely love it. So much dust & dirt comes up out of the carpet - even when we ran it on a ... Read the complete review

I purchased the Dyson DC05 about two and a half years ago after buying endless amounts of cheap hoovers, just for them to break after a few months or not work properly in the first place. I bought this from my catalogue as i couldnt afford to go out and buy one out right. It was advertised as being £179.99 but i had an code for money off ... Read the complete review

My wife and I have had a Dyson DC05 for nearly 5 years, and I've got to say it's the best reason for men to do the vacuuming ever invented. The amount of hair 1 dog, 1 daughter and 1 wife can leave around the house is amazing. Even more amazing to see it whizzing around in the transparent cylinder. This is the really fun ... Okay I had this machine for 3 years. I got on the Dyson bandwagen having been wooed by their stylish looks and promises of wonderful cleaning. Things started well as I got a great deal from one online company and saved a lot. The machine was well packed and labelled. It performed great for the first 6 months. I used it about 2-3 ... Well that’s it, it’s finally happened! My vacuum cleaner has finally gone to that great Hoover bag in the sky! Now I am faced with a dilemma – just purchase another £50 cylinder cleaner, or blow the bank and spend £200 on a Dyson. Now, I am not the richest of people, I usually have too much month at the end of my money ... Read the complete review

Having just bought a DC05 I wanted to give my initial impressions. My carpet suffers an awful lot of wear and tear, and usually has crumbs, hair, dust and various unsavoury bits embedded in it. When moving into the house my initial reaction was to save money and get the cheapest vacuum cleaner possible. When it finally exploded ... Read the complete review

£230 for a vacuum cleaner!!!! Surely you'd have to be crazy! when you can get them for £50 or even less. That's what I thought when we bought our first hoover, a few years ago. And so, for the next 2 years, I spent countless hours hoovering the same spot 14 times to get one cat hair up, buying bags by the ... Read the complete review

A few months before we moved to our huge new house, I managed to persuade my Partner that the cheap vacuum cleaner he was using was a false economy. To be honest the one he had did not so much act as a vacuum cleaner it was more a noisy broom. The carpets were scrubbed with the vacuum to get them clean. To see his face once we got ... We?ve had our Dyson DC05 vacuum cleaner for a while now. When our vacuum went wrong it wasn?t a hard choice to make especially since we had seen the quality of the product first hand (our friend lent us theirs for the couple of days we didn?t have a vacuum) So, I can remember when we went to buy it. As a Dyson fan, when my trusty DC01 upright eventually gave up on me I bought the lovely new DC05 Absolute with turbo Brush. A nifty cylinder model costing £235. I was thinking on which topic or product I could write my next opinion on. When my Dyson DCO5 vacuum cleaner was staring at me so to speak and reminded me of the vacuuming that needed to be done. Up until a couple of months ago I looked at two things when purchasing a vacuum cleaner; price and wattage. Price was the driving factor to be honest, the power came a poor second, and I looked at it, as a cleaner is a cleaner is a cleaner. I had heard of dyson cleaners but the price was a huge obstacle to me ever getting one. My ... Read the complete review

When we bought this product a few weeks ago, we immediately took it home to try it out. If we'd had guests in, we would have been thoroughly ashamed! The muck and dust it pulled out of our carpets meant we had to empty the vacuum 3 times in the space of one 3-bedroom house!!! A week later, we re-did the front room, and filled it up ...
