Advantages: one of the best for cleaning up dirt
Disadvantages: The rubber band can easily break on the motor to the bristle head
Initially I was very sceptical about buying a Dyson, as the claims at that it is the best vacuum cleaner on the market is not exactly cheap to test out. Although eventually I decide to buy one as other family members recommend it when the cheaper vacuum cleaner that I had previously bought had finally given up.
One of the reasons that I decide to purchase the Dyson DC07 was because of the fact that it was on special offer in Argos at the time. Really I was not fussy about what model of Dyson that I purchased, as to me they all seem the same; with the only intention of using the Dyson as a normal vacuum cleaner. The price that I paid at the time was around £130 to £140, which was a good price at the time.
When I got the Dyson home and set it up, there were one or two accessories that could be used on the hose. A good point about the Dyson is the length of the hose, which can reach about 10 meters, which is extremely helpful when cleaning the stairs. In terms of the attachment, there is a long bristle round brush, which I am not quite what it is use for and a flat long head tool which is useful on the stairs. When the hose attachment is used, it is extremely good as it picks up a large amount.
When the whole Dyson is used as a normal vacuum cleaner, I was shocked at the amount of dirty that was picked up, as a large amount of dirt was collect in cylinder. What surprises me again and again is amount that is still picked up every day even though the floor does not look that dirty.
Although now I am very glad that I purchased the Dyson, as after we got a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dog, which sheds air like no tomorrow even though he is groomed every day, means that the carpets and floors have to be vacuumed every day; and a huge clump of hair and dirty still collects in the cylinder.
The collections cylinders is also one of the easiest to empty, as it is a simple leader that is pulled and the contents that the in the cylinder simply drop out into the bin or container that is underneath the container.
One of the only problems that I have with the product is, even though the Dyson came with a six year warranty, recently a part on the Dyson failed, a rubber band that attached the bristle head to the motor has snapped. When I contacted the helpline I was informed that the part was not covered, even though she explained that the part was a common fault on the product. Which I thought was not very good customer care. Although she turned round and said that I could order one from the Dyson there and then, which I thought was hugely insulting. Although I was able to find the part at the local Comet store, which was not too bad, as the price for the replacement part was only £6, which was cheaper than Dyson themselves. Although it was not so easy to get the part back on as it took 40 minutes just for a rubber band.
Overall I would recommend I would recommend the product, as from what I have discovered from Dyson is, you get what you pay for, which is quality. As the quality is good, although there is the common fault of the band breaking on the bristle head, although it is not expensive to remedy. I would recommend the Dyson over cheaper versions, as in the same time that I have owned the Dyson DC07; I would have owned two or three cheaper vacuum cleaners.
Summary: Would definately recommend the Dyson DC07

- 14/07/09 I gotta dog that sheds hairs like yours. My vacuum does a brilliant job and was half the price of the grossly overpriced Dyson. |
