Having had numerous 'cheaper' vacuum cleaners that would last a few months then break I decided to spend a bit more for a dyson. I chose a dyson as its the brand the rest of family use and love.
From the word go its been far superior to any cheaper brand i've owned. The suction is brilliant and constant, it picks up first time too none of the faffing of re going over the same section of floor again and again. I have 2 young children and 2 cats and it deals with all their mess extremely easily even black fur on cream carpets!
The hose works well and comes with a good range of attachments including a slim hose piece for getting into all those harder reach places and a wider noozle for hoovering the stairs too. The hose has a good length and it extemds easily and with the click of a button its easy to retract it back down where it fits neatly back into the main hoover. It works really well on my lino floors too picking up the smallest of crumbs without the need to use the hose.
Its easy to empty which I don't have to all that often as the vacuum has a 3.5 litre dust capacity. and the only real maintaince is washing out the filter every 3 months, although I have to be honest and say I don't do it that regularly. The one part I have had to replace was the belt for the roller in the bottom. Its really easy to get hold of parts for this hoover though so it wasn't a big deal to have to replace it.
The only slight con I can see is its pretty heavy so its not the easiest to take up and down the stairs but its a small con in my opinion. Other than up and down stairs its pretty easy to move around. The cord length is good so you don't have to constantly unplug and move the plug elsewhere. A small point but I also like that once you have wound the cord up there is a clip to clip the end to the rest of the reel which stops it all unravelling whilst you are moving the hoover around.
I vacuum downstairs in my house everyday at least and everywhere else at least once a week and this cleaner has never failed me.
I have had our DC07 all floors since around 2005 and it is still my main cleaner even after attempting to replace it with a DC22 allergy and trying an Electrolux which was horrific. Anyway, back to the DC07.
Even though it is only 1300w (I think) it is very powerful, when I first cleaned my whole house with it I filled the bin 4 times and the bin is rather large and I have loved it ever since. It is rather effective on pet hair (I think) as one of my dogs is short haired and the other is medium length and the Dyson is effective on short-pile carpet getting all the hair as the dogs aren't allowed on the top floor where the thicker carpet is however lots of hair builds up on this carpet thanks to someone in my house having medium length hair. Also remember to check the brushbar on this cleaner as hair builds up much more than on the non clutch control model due to different brushbar designs.
All Dyson cleaners need the filters washed regularly otherwise suction power drops dramatically, however I've never washed my filters I vacuum them with the DC22 which works great so if your current cleaner still works but you are replacing it with a dyson keep it for filter cleaning and fine dust (which ruins Dysons.)
It is made of rather cheap plastic and you should really be careful with it however I know you don't mollycoddle your vacuum cleaner so parts will eventually need replacing (mine currently needs a new hose, brushbar & upholstery tool) but I have never replaced anything else in all the years of owning it.
Dyson states this cleaner has 3.5 litre dust capacity and this is more than enough, it lasts me 3 full house cleans (5 bedroom, 3 floor house) and a car clean (7 seat Kia Sedona) before the bin looks about to burst. However most cleaners lose suction when they get full. This one doesn't even past the max line! The DC07 is very easy to empty as you slide the clip with your thumb and carry it to a bin and pull the release trigger and the bin flap releases thus releasing the dust etc. and I recommend removing the cyclone assembly from the clear bin (only do this with the bottom flap released as the flap will break!) and tap the coloured cyclone against the side of a bin to dislodge the fine dust then clip it on the machine and you're ready to go
This cleaner is bulky and VERY heavy however seems to slide along carpet but does not fit under low furniture or clean under the slight indentation at the bottom of the kitchen cabinets I tend to use the wand for this. As I said this cleaner is very heavy and as I have 2 flights of stairs I tend to wheel it down the stairs just bumping it down each one and taking a break halfway through carrying it up for ten seconds!
This particular Dyson comes with 3 tools as standard, a crevice tool, a 360° dusting brush and a 360° upholstery/stair tool.
The crevice tool is useful however too long for my liking and I rarely use this.
The upholstery/stair tool is strangely useful for upholstery and stairs, this is the tool I use most often.
The dusting brush is used regularly by me to dust the TV and clean the baseboards under the kitchen cabinets.
I find all the tools useful to have on board the cleaner.
However the reversible wand can be awkward and I don't tend to bother reversing it unless I'm cleaning a tight space and the handle gets in the way.
This cleaner is really noisy as in not the kind of cleaner you would use when people are watching TV or even in the house, I tend to clean when most people are out.
Easy to use, flexible movements, and powerful suction - this is a hoover even an anti-cleaner like myself can reconcile with using it. I can hoover all 4 rooms and the hallway in my flat in around ten minutes - which is all I need to be convinced that this is a great item!
It comes with lots of attachments to get into those small corners and under settees etc. This includes a particularly useful tool to pick up hair and bits that have become stubbornly stuck to your flooring, particularly door mat type material.
One disadvantage is that hair can become very clogged up in the machine, and you may on occasion need to manually cut it out of the rollers. This will probably not be a problem if noone in your household has very long hair!
If like me you are a bit of a cleaning items clutz, be careful when emptying it - if you pull on the wrong bit you may end up with the contents of your hoover all over the floor! If also like me you have a partner who is actually able to operate such things this will only happen to you once before you are banned from emptying it - if you are really lucky you might be banned from hoovering altogether! I am still working on the latter...
All in all this is a great hoover - the initial cost is fairly high, as with all Dysons, however we have had ours for 2 years now and it is showing no signs of giving up on us yet!
Dyson have become famous for their bagless vacuum cleaners. They still have a reputation for being the best cleaners because of their bagless - no loss of suction claim, although in reality most vacuum cleaners on the market currently use the same technology.
The Dyson DC07 vacuum cleaner is a stylish hoover which has as good suction power of the hoovers i have used. It can be used conventionally, or it has a pull out section with an array of attachments, which can be used for getting into those hard to reach places and for cleaning stairs and getting those cobwebs off the ceiling.
Although the cleaner is bagless, there are still parts of the hoover that can get clogged up. The filter is easily removed and can be cleaned or replaced. Equally, over time the 'cyclone' cylinder can get so dirty that it reduces suction. The cylinder can be easily removed, opened and cleaned to restore the hoover to its maximum power.
There are numerous sections of pipeing that can be removed so you can retrieve that toy soldier that has been suck up the hoover. This is more useful (unless you have a lot of toy soldiers in your house) for removing generally heavy objects which get sucked up the hoover, but which are to heavy to get sucked into the cyclone cylinder.
The cleaner is easily emptied and can be done cleanly - the amount of dust which escapes is minimal.
The cleaner is effective on all of the floor surface's I have in my house.
the cleaner is competitively priced although it is not as unique as Dyson would have you believe. However it is very effective at cleaning the floor and i would recomed this product to you.
I give this cleaner a dooyoo rating of 4 stars.
Previously a DC01 owner with a 10 year gap inbetween purchases - the difference between these two cleaners is amazing.
The suction capability is great - you get the feeling your getting right into the fibres. It is also a little scary - if it latches onto something and the seal is absolute it draws the vacuum in - whilst vacuuming the stairs this happened and i nearly ended up wearing it - as it was on the landing.
For me there are more downers - some minor - some designwise.
The weight of the cleaner is noticeably different - I couldn't imagine my Mum lifting it up and down the stairs. The wire reel at the back doesn't have a quick release any more (but we can live with that). Unlike the previous model you could draw the wand out and start to use, this model requires that you draw the wand out, detach the end and reconnect it to the other end - this gets to be a bit of a "too-doo" and you end up not bothering doing the rotating bit. And finally.... when carrying upstairs your thumb naturally rests on the release button for disengaging and emptying the cleaner - just be careful not to make a mess.
Go in store - feel the weight and the ask for a demo on the hose and look how you would carry it upstairs - then go back on line and find your best deal.
We have owned our Dyson DC07 for about 4 years now and bought it after, usually, going for cylinder vacuum cleaners and have always been impressed with the suction both on hard and carpeted floors.
We (my wife included) have never found it to be too heavy (a complaint my mother in law has with hers) and it is easy to manouver.
The collection container is easy to empty (you just press a lever to remove and then press another to empty once at the bin).
The one thing we have had a problem with is the extendable hose that is used for the crevice tool etc. Ours has split near the plastic connector at the end. The vacuum cleaner is still usable when the hose is not extended but can be awkward when it is.
We only really used the extension for the stairs so we have got an extra hand held (corded) cleaner for this, which suits us better.
So, we have no intention of replacing the Dyson as it is a very good vacuum cleaner but would have hoped the extension hose could have lasted longer.
After several year of buying cheaper hoovers, I finally succumbed and purchased a Dyson. The bactisafe screen to kill bacteria, hospital - level hepa filter and many other claims were all great selling points for a house with 3 small children and a pet.
I excitedly got my new cleaner home, unpacked it and started a thorough clean of the house..... it was one of thoses typical moments where glee mixes with shame! I was so pleased to see how much was being picked up and yet full of shame that my house had apparently been so dirty, when I thought my olde cleaner was doing a sterling job. I could not have been happier with my new Dyson and sang its praises to the roof tops
Then, a few weeks down the line, I noticed that it didn't seem to be picking up so much... some time later, i noticed that the hose seemed to have a slight crack... and so the faults started to unfold. More and more things seemed 'not quite right' and I actually went back to using my old cleaner after one particularly dirty job that needed a decent hoovering after.
Now, a while down the line, I have a Henry.... I love him and he had yet to let me down. I would never get another Dyson... and it occurred to me, those people who nee to hoover thoroughly as part of their job .... do you ever see them with a Dyson? I only ever see Henry's myself!
Yea,well it does do a good job.But not after a while. The hose has split twice now,so I am having to buy another.Even though it has plenty of room and are easy to empty, for some reason it is now not picking up that great.
It was a breath of fresh air though when I first brought it.Had such strong suction on it and picked up in awkward places easy.Maneuvering is not too bad.The emptying system is great,no more changing or emptying bags, which was a messy job.All the extras on this hoover makes it so much easier for stair cleaning and gets in all the corners of ceilings great. There is plenty of cord for long rooms without having to switch plugs.
For what it does and what it holds,I personally think that the price is fantastic.I love Dyson, but I think I will go for the ball one next,so I can turn the corners easier.
I recently bought this hoover as i have gone through roughly 7 hoovers in the past four years, all of the other hoovers have either just stopped picking up the crumbs off my four young children and our very fluffy cat, also our very large dog. nearing the end of their hoover life you could tell they were failing miserably. i am very happy with my purchase of this hoover, i only have to hoover every other day now and hoovering takes half the time, i never have to repeat hoover a patch of carpet. overall this hoover gets my full approval, i have currently had this hoover a few months and i have no doubts that it will continue to run for a good few years yet.the only downfall to this hoover is that the tube to hoover the stairs stretches out very far but has now split, although this is repairable i hope it will not happen again as the £20's would soon add up.
Right, there are good and bad points about the Dyson DC07. I personally was unimpressed. When comparing it to cheaper cleaners, it just doesn't seem to be any better. Yes, you don't need bags which is good, and it's got a very advanced filter system. The filtering is a bit pointless though, as you have to open the unit to empty it, so you have to do that outside and well away from any allergy sufferers for there to be any point. I find it far too heavy, bulky, and difficult to maneuvre, and it sounds like an aircraft taking off! The hose which you put attachments on is far too short - you can't reach to hoover cobwebs from the ceiling, and stairs is a real struggle because of the size and weight of the thing. We had a continuing problem with the drive belts stretching and slipping off - and it was really quite a complicated process to get to them to pop them back on. I wouldn't have wanted to call out an engineer every time that happened, it was just too frequent.
In my opinion, this is an effective vacuum cleaner, but there are equivalents (and some better ones) available for half the price.
i have had my dyson for about 5 years and never had any technical problems with it at all.
i like the fact with dysons that the suction is fantastic and it never loses that.
you can see what you have picked up and therefor get out if picked up by mistake.
you also have no smells as its easy to wipe out and keep clean and its also good for the environment because there are no bags to clog up the bins and its so easy to throw away the rubbish.
the only negative thing i can say about it is that its so heavy to carry up and down stairs although the hose makes it easy actually doing the stairs the carrying handle does make life that bit easier.
the dyson also has some good attatchments that lock onto the hose to help especially when cleaning out the car and you need to get in awkward places which normal hoovers dont always have its a very good product and if mine goes wrong i will definatly buy another dyson.
This vacuum cleaner is fantastic in most aspects! My family and I have had it and used it for four years now and we haven't had any technical problems with it and it is still working as though it was new (use it 2-3 times a week for the whole house). The really cool thing about it is that you can see everything that you have hoovered up in the see through cylinder. The suction power on it is really good and it picks up dust that cant always be seen really well. The one draw back about this particular dyson is that it is heavy, for example I do struggle to carry it up and down the stairs. Also, due to the upright position of the vacuum cleaner, it does make it difficult to clean under certain types of furniture such as tables, or in the corners of a room So while the functionality of it is fabulous, for practicality reasons, I would recommend that you get the other dyson which does not have the upright cylinder.
The Dyson DC07 vacuum cleaner is a great all purpose upright cleaner. It has very powerful suction thanks to the Dyson Root Eight cyclone technology. It comes with a extending hose for cleaning the stairs and hard to reach areas which packs up very neatly into the handle. It also comes with a upholstery cleaner and a soft brush attachment and a attachment that fits on to the end of the extending hose to stop large objects being sucked up into the bin. The bin is easy to empty just press a button to release the bin then press another when it is over the bin bag and it is empty. Dyson do a great range of spares so if anything does go wrong you can just get a spare part and clip it into place rather than having to pay for a whole new vacuum cleaner. The vacuum does an incredible job of picking up on all types of carpet and wooden floors usually one pass is enough to pick up all the dirt.
This is a very good vacuum for a very reasonable price if you are looking for a Dyson this one is great there is no need to go for a more expensive one as this will serve most peoples needs.
This is the 2nd dyson that I have owned. I have had this vacum for 4 years now. I love my vacum cleaner. With 2 small children and a dog you would be surprised at how much dirt that can generate.
I love my dyson because it picks up every thing. The spinning brush brings the pile back up on my carpet. You can see what the hoover picks up and because there are no bags, there are no additional costs once you have purchased this.
I have reccomended dyson to every one I meet, and I would never go back to any other make. I love it.
In the 4 years that I have had this machine I have never had a proble. I plug it in and off we go.
The only one thing that goes against it, is the weight, however If you are fit and healthy this should not be a problem.
This is now my third dyson, each one I have owned has lasted some two and a half years, that might not seem very long to most people but each one was used twice daily. I am coming up to that time period again but as of yet no problems.... This is my favourite dyson due to the considerable amounts of design changes there has been over the years most noticebly is the balance of the upright dyson. I can now hoover the kitchen tiled floor without it wanting to pull over and scream at you in a very high pitched noise. It is also much easier to use in general, there is much less drag whilst hoovering which older less mobile people will find easier to use, it is still simple to empty with a one touch pull and release system, its filters are all washable so no extra cost involved, its onboard tools are all very useful especially for the stairs and it really does do edge to edge cleaning. The price has dropped too making it more accessible to all budgets. Another very clever idea is the blockage access points allowing you to hoover up silly things and again retrieve them!! also on this model is the turbo brush brilliant for the removal of pet hairs ( the main reason I bought it ) All in all a great hoover that never loses suction even if you use alot of shake n vac, also now with a five year guarantee as standard and if you should have any problems they have a great customer service something of a rarety these days.
