Advantages: Picks up pet hair really well, no bags to empty, easy to clean

Disadvantages: Heavy, doesn't get into all the corners

I had wanted a Dyson vacuum for a while, but simply couldn't justify the initial outlay for one. Then one day while doing the weekly shop in Tesco I saw the Dyson DC07 Allergy on offer for £170 (down from £270 at the time - it was a few years ago). Seeing as I had wanted a Dyson for ages I decided this was too good an opportunity to miss and added it to my weekly shop.

I didn't really think about the allergy aspect when I first bought it, as it was more the pull of the Dyson brand that led me to buy it (oh, and the price reduction). The vacuum is blue and turquoise in colour and looks attractive. It also offers the "no bag" deal that comes as standard with the Dyson brand. I think it was the "No bag" deal that drew me to Dyson as a brand as I always seemed to struggle with changing hoover bags.

This particular model has the following features : Lifetime HEPA filter; Brush control; Root8 Cyclone technology (the "no bag" feature); Hygienic and quick to empty (with this model you press a button at the top of the cylinder to removed the cyclinder, then hold the cylinder over the bin and pull a small handle which opens the bottom of the cyclinder, to close you simply "flick" the clylinder and the base clips shut).

I have found this vacuum to be excellent at picking up pet hair and have had visitors with allergies who have not been affected in my house. It is a heavy vacuum though and living in a 3 storey house I find it a bit of nightmare to lug up and down the stairs. It is also not very good at getting into corners - even with the alternative nozzles I still have to get on my hands and knees in certain parts of my house. Although that may well be more to do with my house than the Dyson!

All in all I am pleased with my purchase - perhaps when I win the lottery I will have one for each floor of my house to avoid the problem of its weight.

Summary: A good vacuum but a little heavy

Good review here although it would benefit a bit more about its performance on carpets/getting through furnitures/under low stuff.
